Latest misleading stories on Joe

Today I read: Joe Biden is against legal marijuana
Last summer I attended a Biden GOTV event on the UW Madison Campus where the young crowd was delighted to hear both the soon to be Gov Tony Evers and Vice-President Joe Biden supported legalizing marijuana.

Now I read where Joe Biden refuses to directly apologize to Dr Hill as Joe called her. That wasn’t what I heard at all and at the end Joy suggested getting Anita Hill on the View with him. Joe said in the positive that he would do that. I’m not going to try to quote him specifically.
Unfortunately in both instances, dozens of comments were condemning Joe before I was able to say what I heard.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

In 1996, when the ONDCP came up for reauthorization, Biden voted in the senate for a bill that basically required the Drug Czar to spearhead a massive propaganda campaign directed at the American people.

“The Director shall ensure that no Federal funds appropriated to the Office of National Drug Control Policy shall be expended for any study or contract relating to the legalization (for a medical use or any other use) of a substance listed in schedule I of section 202 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 812) and take such actions as necessary to oppose any attempt to legalize the use of [such] a substance (in any form).”

Which basically boils down to: No matter how much evidence comes to light showing cannabis is a safe and effective medicine, the Drug Czar is required, by law, to lie about it. No matter how much evidence piles up showing that the benefits of legalization far outweigh any potential harms, the Drug Czar is required by law to lie about it. Which they have all done.

The lying continues today. Under Donald Trump, the ONDCP supports the work of a secretive White House anti-cannabis committee whose membership list reads like a murderer’s row of discredited drug warriors.

this should all come out when he's on the campaign trai about the potl!

As for what they're saying about him "refusing to apologize" to Anita Hill.. that didn't sound like Joe Biden.

Politically, it cant hurt him and I can see a couple of ways it would help him. Beyond that, it’s the right position. I get the same pushback from my parents who are his age. Views seem to be divided between boomers and everyone born since. There is a generation component.

medicinally and the states are doing it recreationally, too.

It needs to be legal on a federal level. Being illegal is ridiculous and only helps the alcohol industry, perhaps.

Boomers were there during there for the Flower Child Generation, so I would think many of them are still for it.

I don't do it anymore but I sure had my fun when it was illegal. I wouldn't want to deprive anyone else of that. I think it's great it's come so far.

It was absurd for it to be illegal! A plant/weed that you can grow at home. smh.

He went to a talk on opioids and a lady said that she thought pot was the start of it and Joe enthusiastically clapped right away signaling he agreed.

Rolling Stone did a recent article saying they didn’t believe he had changed and all pot activists were concerned.

I googled has Joe Biden changed his mind about pot? Nada. Got nothing. So if he has its a big secret.

Now I do NOT think it's fair to attack Biden over the actual hearing. It was a different time and people were not educated on diversity and how to handle situations like that.

Here is my take...Anita Hill did NOT seek Biden out or ask for an apology from him. She was just going about her business living her life in privacy. HE reached out to her in order to apologize. She went through a lot during that time and suffered terribly. He did play a part in it even though I am sure there was no ill will behind it. Rather than give a sincere and legitimate apology he said, "I'm sorry for what you went through." Every real apology MUST include 3 things...Apology, Acknowledgement, Atonement/Amends. All he had to do is just say, "I'm sorry for the part I played in what you went through. Is there any input you can give me to help me learn and grow going forward?"

Basically, his apology is a "non-apology." This kind of statement is offered with the goal of making the person apologizing feel better. In the process it leaves the person on the receiving end feeling minimized, disregarded and usually hurt and insulted. It's better to not get an apology at all than to get one that is only given in order to benefit the person giving it.

THAT is what the problem is. It's not even about the hearing, at least not to me. If he was not going to give a real, legitimate apology he should have just left her the hell alone.

Unless it was a different visit - this is the only one I could find. According to several press reports this was his only visit in 2018.

What’s the time stamp?
