A friend in CA, last year was in favor of Harris, now not sure

saw some negative posts on Harris' Facebook. Don't take those at face value; we said. They can be posted by Russians.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I question if she is ready to be president. She has always been a prosecutor so her area of expertise is limited and it shows. She would be an outstanding choice for AG -maybe the best ever after serving as AG of the largest state and then being a senator from the largest state. As far as negative facebook comments, I’m sure it’s all fake - I never trust those. She only has one big vulnerability/baggage - when she served as DA in SF, she refused to pursue death penalty for a gang member who killed SF police officer. It wouldn’t be as controversial if she had waited but she announced literally the next day or so that she won’t be seeking death penalty. Mind you that police officer was a renowned hero and his family was on tv. This was too much even for liberal SF as her statement came across as insensitive and purely politically motivated. I remember that time very clearly and I can tell you that pretty much every local media outlet here was outraged as most residents.

And she's a US Senator from our largest state. I think that's plenty of experience.

(I like Buttigieg, but he's hardly experienced-- not nearly as experienced as her.)

And was elected with that in mind. It would have been very hard for her not to do exactly as she did.

but then I remember Barack Obama. Initially I thought HE wasn't ready to be president. Too young and inexperienced, but turns out he was a great fit for the Oval Office. We really never know what kind of president a person will be until they are in office. It goes both ways of course. I knew Trump would be a bad president, but until he was in office, I had no idea how bad!

top three primary preferences.

And I would be proud to support her in the GE.

Anyone who relies on FB posts to choose a candidate needs their head examined, IMO.

There are so many better ways to get verified facts about any candidate.

Yes! Facebook is honestly the fucking worst. I know lots of people say they have it to keep in touch with family and friends, but with all we know about it now, I say it ain't worth the family and friends. Write them a fucking letter or call them if you want to keep in touch. I've never had Facebook and never will. Zuckerberg should be in prison for the horror he unleashed on the world.

about prison for Zuckerberg, but maybe there's a room in Ecuador's London embassy that he could occupy for the rest of his life.

Good for you for shunning FB. I would, too, but I find it useful for one thing. I use it to find the family trees of people who won't write back to me from the DNA sites that I use daily. I was adopted, and by comparing the pedigree trees of people who share segments of DNA with me and with each other, I can piece together my own heritage.

Many will gladly help, but some are worried about the disclosure of information, most notably by law enforcement officials to solve cold cases. It's not that they sanctions the behavior of some second-cousin criminal, it's just that they don't want to be the one to be seen in the eyes of other family members as having "ratted" someone out, or smearing the family name, or things like that.

But, in both obituaries, and Facebook, normally private people tell all.
