2020 hopeful Kamala Harris to meet with SC educators day before teacher protest
COLUMBIA, SC -- One 2020 presidential hopeful is coming to South Carolina to meet with a small group of educators and community activists the day before teachers stage a protest at the State House to demand higher pay and better working conditions.
U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., will host the roundtable Tuesday at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia at 2:45 p.m.
Invited to the meeting with Harris are two teachers one from Greenville and one from Charleston a Richland school superintendent, and a Working Hero South Carolina representative who will discuss educational and economic inequality.
Harris plans to discuss economic and educational inequality, her campaign said, as well as her campaign promise to raise teacher pay a proposal that state Rep. JA Moore, D-Berkeley, filed as legislation in the S.C. House earlier this month.
