I would have a lot of trouble with that........thank goodness I'm not running for President!

I think Pete and Reverend Al are used to that by now.

There has definitely been an undertone on DU that Pete has a "problem with the African American community." Whatever the accuracy of this assessment, it's clear that Pete is making a serious effort to get to know this community, and to help them to get to know him. You have probably already heard that Rev. Al Sharpton found Pete to be authentic, and was impressed that he came to the heart of Harlem to solidify his connection with African Americans. This is a good, first step to reach out to the larger, Black community and to learn more about their needs and concerns.
