Rudy Giuliani's daughter says she 'lost her dad' to Trump and begs people to vote for Harris
(The Independent) Rudy Giulianis daughter issued a stark warning about a second Trump presidency, using her fathers implosion as an example of what happens when someone is caught up in the former presidents destructive trail. Giuliani has gone from a revered prosecutor and New York mayor that led the city through the devastation of the 9/11 attacks to a bankrupt and disbarred attorney since becoming one of Trumps staunchest allies. This fall from grace exemplifies how Donald Trump destroys everything he touches, according to Caroline Giuliani.
Go to discussionDoctors issue stark warning as Louisiana reclassifies abortion pills
(The Guardian) Two common abortion pills are, as of Tuesday, classified as controlled substances in Louisiana, due to a first-of-its-kind law that medical professionals warn will endanger the lives of women by restricting medication used to treat postpartum hemorrhage and other conditions. Louisiana, which already bans abortion, passed a law reclassifying mifepristone and misoprostol as schedule IV drugs a designation typically reserved for drugs that carry a risk of abuse or dependence. People caught with the drugs without a valid prescription could face up to five years in prison, although pregnant women who procure it for their own use are exempted from punishment under the law.
Go to discussionPolls show big increase in Republicans planning to vote for abortion rights
(Washington Post) The politics of abortion rights have shifted massively toward Democrats since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Nothing makes that clearer than the fact that the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, hemmed and hawed for months about whether he would vote in his home state of Florida to establish a constitutional right to an abortion. Trump ultimately said he would vote no. But lots of other Republicans are arriving at a different decision.

Trump Falsely Says Biden Was Not Reachable
(Poltiical Wire) Donald Trump falsely claimed that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp hasnt been able to reach President Joe Biden to discuss Hurricane Helenes impacts on his state, NBC News reports. Said Trump: He has been calling the president, but has not been able to get him. Yet earlier in the day Kemp, a Republican, said that he initially missed Bidens call but that he called back and that the two were able to connect Sunday evening. Said Biden: Hes lying, and the governor told him he was lying. I dont know why he does this. And the reason I get so angry about I dont care about what he says about me, I care what he what he communicates to people that are in need, implies that were not doing everything possible. We are.
Go to discussionTrump Accuses Biden Of What He Himself Did: Withholding Aid To Storm Victims
(Huff Post) Donald Trump, who as president withheld hurricane aid to Puerto Rico and threatened to withhold wildfire assistance to California, on Monday falsely accused President Joe Biden of failing to help Hurricane Helenes flood victims in western North Carolina and Georgia, having left Americans to drown in the South. Hes been calling the president, he hasnt been able to get him, Trump said of Georgias governor, fellow Republican Brian Kemp, in his remarks to reporters in Valdosta, a city in the southern part of the state. It was a lie refuted by Kemp himself earlier that day.
Go to discussionBipartisan push emerges to cut Congress' recess short
(Axios) A growing number of lawmakers in states hit by Hurricane Helene are pressing for Congress to return from its October recess to pass additional disaster relief funding. It's an idea that even President Biden appeared to float on Monday, though congressional leadership has given no indication it will take such an extraordinary step. Biden said during a press conference on Monday that his "expectation" is to ask Congress to pass a supplemental funding package to respond to the storm. Congress left town last week having passed a stopgap federal funding bill that included three months worth of funding for FEMA's Disaster Aid Fund at current spending levels.
Go to discussionStruggling Hardliner Ted Cruz Suddenly Insists He's Bipartisan
(Daily Beast) Facing a tight re-election race, hardline Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is now claiming that hes a bipartisan champion of reaching across the aisle. An index of Senate bipartisanship by the Lugar Center and Georgetown Universitys McCourt School of Public Policymeasuring how much a legislator co-sponsors bills introduced by the opposite party and how much their bills attract sponsorship from the opposite partyranked Cruz 89th out of 98 senators. In other words, the man who routinely lambastes Democrats as trying to destroy America, the man who wrote a book called Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America, and the man who cant even say whether he will recognize the outcome of the election is, unsurprisingly, one of the least bipartisan senators.
Go to discussionIndependent Shakes Up Nebraska Senate Race
(Political Wire) A seemingly non-competitive Senate race in deeply Republican Nebraska is no longer a safe bet for two-term incumbent Sen. Deb Fischer the dynamics jolted by the late-stage insurgence of independent Dan Osborn, who, if successful, could be the deciding factor on which party has control of the chamber, where Democrats currently hold a razor-thin 51-49 majority, ABC News reports. Said Osborn: I hate to call it like Im trying to call a Nebraska football game, but I would say Im gonna win pretty substantially. People are ready for a change. People are sick of the status quo,
