Poor 'tax paying' man of the people. Vets were getting some humanity all over his posh

Trump’s War on Disabled Veteran Vendors
In the 1990s, Trump had a real problem with a protected class of New York street vendors. We paid a visit to some of them today.

They are as much a part of the New York City landscape as the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Times Square. But the presence of street vendors along New York City’s posh Fifth Avenue corridor gave Donald Trump heartburn in the early 1990s. Back then, he, along with other local business leaders, urged city and state officials to restrict vendor access to Fifth Avenue, including the space in front of Trump Tower. One target of his lobbying efforts included a special class of business operators: disabled veteran street vendors.

“While disabled veterans should be given every opportunity to earn a living, is it fair to do so to the detriment of the city as a whole or its tax paying citizens and businesses?” Trump wrote in a 1991 letter obtained by the New York Daily News. “Do we allow Fifth Ave., one of the world’s finest and most luxurious shopping districts, to be turned into an outdoor flea market, clogging and seriously downgrading the area?”

The fight went back to an 19th-century law that gave every veteran in New York the right to “hawk, peddle and vend any goods, wares or merchandise” throughout the state. Designed to create economic opportunities for Civil War veterans, the law has been amended a number of times at various state and city levels. Advocacy groups say what remains today is an overly complicated legal system that has, in fact, discouraged veterans from obtaining this protected license. Of New York City’s 2,555 general vendor licenses, only 105—and only those held by disabled veterans—permit work in the so-called "midtown core," a restricted zone created in the 1990s in part to respond to lobbying efforts of the Fifth Avenue Association. It’s a flawed process, veteran street vendors say. Not only is the number too low, but it has led to abuse of some disabled veterans through corruptive “rent-a-vet” schemes where civilian operators pay veterans to use their licenses in this prized area.

Politico photographer M. Scott Mahaskey walked the streets of New York City to document these vendors, who today battle cops, long hours and meager compensation—and many of whom still have fresh memories of Trump’s war against them.

He's garbage.

He has a history of actively undermining the deserving for his own enrichment. Extra precious, in that letter he associates himself with tax paying citizens at a time when he was writing off the very loss that allowed him to leech off the rest of us for 20 year. When I see the Clinton's attacked on personal finance it boggles my brain. He was the f'ing president, and their charitable giving puts gop types to shame. If it involves their highly rated charity, well that's money that saved lives. Of human beings. Children, the poor, the hopeless. If they squeezed it out of the hands of dirt bags, whether they're Saudi or Trump himself, good for them!

Trump's record, his self stated preeminent qualification proves it; He's. Garbage.

Eric Garner chokehold case given over to new investigating team at Justice Department

Source: NY Daily News

Federal prosecutors and FBI agents in New York have ceded control of the civil rights probe of Eric Garner's chokehold death to a new investigative team based in the Justice Department.

Sources said that since the Eastern District of New York crew had recommended that NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo's actions did not rise to the level of a federal crime it was not possible for the Brooklyn-based agents to see the case through to the end.

Civil rights officials in Washington, disagreed with the recommendation, leading to a highly unusual split in the investigation that has dragged on for more than two years, sources said.

"I wouldn't use the word 'replaced' to describe what happened," to the New York prosecutors and agents, said a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation. "You could say they didn't want to go forward."....

The decision whether to seek a federal indictment will ultimately be made by the Justice Department's civil rights division and Attorney General Loretta Lynch. There had been a prosecutor from the Washington civil rights office working with the Eastern District prosecutors on the case in Brooklyn.

Evidence in the Staten Island death was presented to a grand jury earlier this year, but the panel has yet to vote on it.

Hillary Clinton is matching Barack Obama with young voters

Source: Vox

...Clinton is now projected to get exactly the same youth vote share as Obama did in 2012 (60 percent), according to a massive new study released Monday by the Black Youth Project at the University of Chicago, as part of its GenForward survey series. It’s a stunning turnaround for a campaign that has faced months of fierce criticism and second-guessing over its apparent inability to shore up its millennial support.

“Over time, young voters have really come to think that Gary Johnson doesn’t represent their interests, that [Green Party candidate] Jill Stein is not going to win, and that the stakes are very high in this election,” says Cathy Cohen, a political scientist at the University of Chicago and the study’s lead author, in an interview. “And while they still don’t have great love for Clinton, it looks like they’ve decided to vote for her.”

The race has since widened considerably — Clinton is now out to a 45-to-39 lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average. So it’s not surprising that she’s improved her numbers with young voters as part of that bigger shift.

Still, there’s very strong evidence that her support with millennials has increased at a much faster clip than it has with the rest of the voting public — particularly in the wake of the presidential debates.

Genius Trump supporter not voting because election is rigged

Seriously. MSNBC had video of him this morning. Signs all over the yard but he bought what Trump's selling. Not voting top of ticket or down ticket. Not. Voting.

Thanks, Trump!

Somber Republicans in sack cloth and ashes on my TV this morning

They wonder if this primary voter problem they have is treatable or terminal. How clueless. It took decades for their base to deteriorate like this.

Look to their shock jocks and Fox who taught them to hate the government. They taught them to blame others for all their problems. From the poor to African Americans to Immigrants to Mexicans to Muslims to Women -All are blamed for taking a piece of their fantasy ownership of Everything American.

The whole idea of a "rigged" election places blame for failure on Others.

Remember that quaint concept of "personal responsibility"? Gone. They used to sneer about how the unsuccessful should pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

I think we need two parties. I worry about what happens when the gop fractures. But I can't find any pity in my heart for them.

They aren't even really trying now-

So Donald Trump Just Invited a Hamas Supporter to the Debate Tomorrow Night

Donald Trump has reportedly invited President Obama’s estranged half-brother to the debate tomorrow.
...
Malik Obama is a supporter of Hamas, by the way. Above is a photo of Malik Obama at a 2010 conference in Yemen, wearing a Hamas scarf with the slogans, “Jerusalem is ours - we are coming,” and “From the river to the sea.”

In 2010 when this photo surfaced, right wing media tried their best to smear Obama with his half-brother’s endorsement of Hamas, ignoring the fact that Malik had openly declared his enmity with Barack.
