Anyone See The AMC Show, "Small Town Security"

So, right after "Breaking Bad", AMC promised a 4 minute trailer for the up coming season of "Walking Dead" and previews of next week's "Breaking Bad". The thing is, you had to sit through this new reality show, "Small Town Security" in order to see them.

So, I did, and although somewhat amusing, I was perplexed as to why AMC would do a reality show on these people. Sure, maybe A&E or TLC, but AMC? I couldn't believe it.

That is, until the twist at the end, and it's a really great twist. I honestly did not see it coming. Completely fooled me, and it was amazing.

Good work AMC!

On Obama's Bain Strategy: Love Seeing A Dem Finally Play Offense

After watching the GOP use every dirty trick in the book on McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry, it's truly refreshing watching a Dem presidential candidate going after the Republican, and doing it without using dirty tricks!

Obama is teaching the party how to run for office. You don't run scared. You take the fight to your opponent. You use facts and the truth, and you challenge them. None of this, "take the high road" bullshit.

It's Painfully Obvious: Mitt Romney Is A Replicant, Created by The Tyrell Corp.

And, there's more than one model. That's how Romney Replicant v. 1.01 can be pro-choice, but Romney Replicant v. 2.01.01 is against abortion. One signs a healthcare bill into law. The other one wants to repeal it. One ran Bain Capital after 1999. The other one ran the Olympics. One is more Liberal than Ted Kennedy. The other one is a "severe conservative".

That's why he considers corporations to be people. Because a corporation created him. A corporation is his parents!

Look at the definition of a replicant:

A replicant is a bioengineered or biorobotic being created in the film Blade Runner (1982). The Nexus series—genetically designed by the Tyrell Corporation—are virtually identical to an adult human, but have superior strength, agility, and variable intelligence depending on the model. Because of their physical similarity to humans, a replicant must be detected by its lack of emotional responses and empathy to questions posed in a Voight-Kampff test. A derogatory term for a replicant is "skin-job."

The New BCS Playoff System and Paying Players

Now that the BCS has a playoff system, I predict that the championship may get as big as, if not bigger than, the Superbowl in terms of ratings and TV deals. Additionally, the site of the game will be award based on bidding by different venues, and not a traditional bowl site.

In sum, there will be massive amounts of additional revenue heading to the NCAA which brings up a point that no one in the media seems to be addressing. How can the NCAA generate all of this additional revneue, and not pay the players?

The total amount of the NCAA's various TV deals and national championship deals may be on par, if not more, than the NFL's deals, and yet the players won't be paid???

This seems a little obscene and unfair. I propose paying the players a fixed amount, say $100,000 per athlete, if their teams make it into the playoffs and championship games. I believe that their scholarships do cover regular season games, but they should be compensated for playoffs and a championship, which are in addition to their regular season obligations.

The Key To Fixing All of Economic Problems and Inequalities Is Moving Away from Consumerism

as the basis for our economy.

More so than taxes, more so than wealth re-distribution, the real culprit behind our malaise is rampant consumerism. Tilting our economy towards consumption leads to the following problems:

1. Forces businesses to outsource over seas in order to make the prices of goods and services more "affordable". Sure, companies could produce goods domestically, but they would take a major hit on their profit margins, and stockholders would just replace management with those that will outsource over seas.

2. Without incomes from actually producing goods, the population turns to using credit in order to feed consumption. Whenever you use credit, you pay the banks an interest rate. These interest rate payments on credit cards, car loans, mortgages, etc. represent a direct wealth transfer from the population to the banking sector.

3. At various intervals, the consumer taps out on its ability acquire credit, and thus, ceases to spend, which in turn leads to economic recessions.

4. By making access to credit so cheap, savers are denied decent interest rates. What moves people from poverty to the middle class is having tangible assets, and the most common is a savings account. The more one saves over time, the less likely they will be poor.

5. Over-consumption is cripples our environment. Most of what we consume winds up in landfills and is sometimes lost at sea during transport.

Until we re-balance our economy between production and consumption, the bad economic times are here to stay.

'Breaking Bad' creator Vince Gilligan: 'I would love to see a Saul Goodman spin-off'

This is rocking good news:

“I would love to see a Saul Goodman spin-off show when it’s all said and done,” Gilligan tells EW. “I think that would present itself pretty nicely, storywise. While Breaking Bad is by design a show that is finite and limited in its scope — it’s a story of transformation that cannot go on forever — I think a Saul Goodman show could have great legs. I love the idea of a lawyer who will do anything to avoid going to court. He’s always going to settle on the courthouse steps.” Gilligan cautions that the Saul spin-off is just in the idea stage at this point. And he issues an all-important caveat, given that the writers are currently constructing the second half of the last season: “No viewer should breathe a sigh of relief that Saul won’t expire by the end of Breaking Bad,” he says. “Everything is on the table… Who knows where Breaking Bad will take us?” (Asked about the possibility of a Saul-centric series, Odenkirk seconds: “Saul has got to survive this show first.” He adds with a quip: “And if he doesn’t, then maybe it can be done as a prequel.”)

Attention: Most NYC Dwellers Make Far Less Than $250,000 A Year

Half make less than $50,000 a year. So, please stop with the meme that if you make $250,000 in NYC, then you are poor. I've lived in Manhattan for 16 years, and I didn't even top $100,000 until year 14, and I'm doing just fine thank you. Hardly any of my colleagues make even close to $200,000 a year.

If you'e living in NYC, and you make $250,000 a year, you are doing extremely well, and you are NOT middle class. You are upper class.

That is all. Carry on.
