Steve Kornacki's "lean forward" ad..WTF?

"...covering things that were not safe to cover on tv before.."...

safe? what's that all about?

Somehow it WAS safe to describe in graphic detail the president's genitalia...and to show the "stain" on the "blue dress"..

It must have been unsafe to tell us details about how bankers pillaged our treasury, and drained our 401-k's/pensions.. Why was it "unsafe", Steve?

Is it safe now??? Now that the money is gone and they are going after that last leg of the stool (SS), and they are somehow above prosecution?? Is it safe now??

Melissa Harris Perry got rampaged for her innocent comment about how children "belong" to all of us, but so far no one (except maybe me) has questioned why it was "not safe" to cover some things before..

Was MSNBC afraid that bankers would storm 30-Rock and stamp them all NSF??

Republicans (especially the base) just don't want to be part of the USA

This is precisely what the whole issue of "States Rights" is about.

They only want to follow rules/laws that THEY make in their own gerrymandered legislatures.

They don't give a crap about federal laws. The ONLY thing they want from the federal government is the right to send their "folks" to DC in order to muck up the works for the states that DO believe in a central federal government's set of rules that bind us all together.

Storm/disaster relief from the feds..send it on over
Fed funds to help with education..send it on over
Fed funds for help with their states poor...send it on over

Why be part of something if you plan to ignore the bylaws/rules, and only stay a member so you can ruin the experience for the other members?. Would any club on earth welcome members like that?

If you are wary of prepared foods/mixes and you have a little time

HP published (not the computer HP folks) a series of "Make-A-Mix" Cookbooks.

Mine are spattered, dogeared and worn, but you can still find them on Ebay and Amazon sometimes. (been using them since the '70s)

These great cookbooks show you how to make your own pancake/sauce/cake mixes.. There are no preservatives, since you make your own "base" and then only add a few different ingredients when you finish whatever you are cooking.

You can freeze the mixes and only portion out what you need at any given time.

If you have dietary concerns, you could surely experiment a bit and change the base ingredients to your needs.

For people with limited time, these books make it easy to whip something up in a hurry without having to wonder what chemicals/preservatives are in the foods you cook.

An old man fell in the street yesterday

I met him at the bank today, and we struck up a conversation about his banged up nose, black eye & broken arm.

When he told me where he fell, I asked him if anyone came to help him immediately ( It is a very busy street).

The ONLY person who came to help him ..and who directed traffic around him, was a homeless woman.

She had no phone, but managed to use his to call for help for him.. She stayed with him until an ambulance came...and then they unceremoniously shooed her away ..

Since 1964, even when Dems "win", we lose

After Johnson's Great Society, and the Civil Rights legislation., just what have we accomplished , in a progressive sense?

We did manage to get Roe v Wade, but that was largely due to the SCOTUS that was put in place years earlier. Even that progressive decision was doomed, since it galvanized the wacky religious fringe that has "blossomed" into what we have now.

Nixon, even though he was a republican, probably did more progressive things than Dems who followed him:

Carter.....hobbled from the get-go, and ruined throughout his one-term. accomplished little (he has been awesome after he left office)

Clinton....demonized immediately, marginalized and pushed into governing republican-style. (More effective out of office)

Republicans "win" because they are willing to "go-there"..every time....all the time.

Democrats fear being in the minority in the senate & house,. so when we are in power, we hedge our bets, and look for compromise. When we are out of power, we "accommodate" republicans, in hopes that they will reciprocate at a future time... They will NOT.

We have been led around by our noses for half a century, by people who have NEVER been a majority (except in their own minds).

Their ideas are stale at best, and toxic at worst...and we have had mostly the worst.

The second republicans gain control they start unraveling life vests, closing escape hatches, and start scuttling the boat. No one challenges them effectively. They do it over and over and over, and even when they are out of office, they keep on doing it through media & archaic parliamentary rules (odd , since we are not a parliamentary system).

They have proved , over and over, that their way does not work for the "commons", but they keep getting chances to try again. When Dems prevail, we are almost always forced into playing nice with them, and still doing it their way..

For all the great ideas that Obama had (and still has), we will see very little come to fruition because it's almost impossible to implement any of them in the manner they were presented..
(want an ice cream, sundae, kid?...here ya go..bear in mind that it comes with shit sprinkles on top...no fair scraping them off either..)

Media accepts every brain-fart that comes from a republican, as newsworthy, and acceptable policy, but when Dems' ideas are presented, it's dissected to the nth degree and pooh-poohed as not "conservative enough".

As I approach 64 (next week), it's more than a little depressing to note that most of my adult life has been lived in a constant state of push-pull.. We push forward...they pull us back..further than where we started..

I had hoped for a better place for my kids... My hopes are unfulfilled

Dammit to hell!

As I type this a crew of plumbers are jack-hammering my beautiful marble floor in the living room..

It seems that the reason why our water bill spiked so drastically is that we have a "slab-leak"..

A week away from sending the IRS $2,961.00, we now have THIS to contend with .. No idea how much it will be..somewhere between the $350 to find the leak and ?

When pipelines (oil companies) misbehave.

The offending company should immediately cut a check to EVERYONE in a 5 mile radius of their "oopsie"..

The check should be for the HIGHEST 2 yr PRE-OIL OOPS value of the home.

The check should also include the moving expense/closing costs/deposits for their NEW abode.

The local/state government should get a FIVE YEAR equivalent of ALL the property taxes that location would have paid..

The location should be immediately cleaned up and the area razed & turned into a park..

Those properties are worth a LOT less now, and who in their right mind would want to live there again anytime soon.

Any litigation regarding "blame" could be done later.

One thing is certain.. The residents had NOTHING to do with it, and they need to be be compensated automatically..

If oil companies had to pay up front and in full..and prepay future lost tax revenues, they may start paying closer attention to their rickety old pipelines..
