CA , NY, PA, and other blue states send in a LOT more money, so naturally, THEY will be getting a LOT of that money sent "back" to them...right?? right??? right???
Well then , why not have the states just stop sending ANY money to the "govt", and just eliminate it altogether..?
States that are "broke" can just bootstrap themselves through their issues..
and richer states can ....well....just stay rich..
and other stuff in with their 14-year stockpile of food they probably have in barrels at each of their mansions//
the LAST thing that the RC wants to do is to sort through hand-me-down clothes & dented cans of pickled beets & expired cake mixes
Those public service workers who attract scorn from right wingers..
Those public service workers whose pensions need cutting, whose wages need scaling back
Those public service workers who are expected to brave the elements & save people/property and restore creature comforts..but who do not deserve them, themselves.
And , many who are not public service employees , but who also work outside in the elements & in danger.. their service is only appreciated when they are saving the day, but when push comes to shove, republicans still begrudge them a living wage, benefits, and a comfortable retirement
For a short time, they will be treated well and praised, but the first time there is even a whiff of a need to raise taxes to PAY for that protection, they will once again, be thrown in the gutter.....until the next crisis.
Although Sandy is only a cat 1, the pressure is very low and the storm itself is huge since it's merged with another one..
It could mimic the 1938 hurricane except that now we can see it on tv and know it's coming. back then they had no idea what a monster was heading their way..
Lowest pressure 938 mbar (hPa); 27.7 inHg
Fatalities 682 to 800 direct
Damage $306 million (1938 USD)
Areas affected Bahamas, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, southwestern Quebec
deep trough over Appalachia, the hurricane veered northward, sparing the Bahamas, Florida, the Carolinas, and the Mid-Atlantic. At the same time, a high pressure system was centered north of Bermuda, preventing the hurricane from making an eastward turn out to sea. Thus, the hurricane was effectively squeezed to the north between the two weather systems. This conclusion was not reached merely with the wisdom of hindsight. As described by Scott Mandia, professor of physical sciences, State University of New York, in an article on this hurricane, there was a lone voice in the wilderness of the New York meteorological offices crying out a warning of hurricane for Long Island. In Professor Mandia's words, "Charlie Pierce, a young research forecaster for the Bureau concluded that the storm would not continue to move northeast and curve out to sea but would instead track due north. He was overruled by more senior meteorologists and the official forecast was for cloudy skies and gusty conditions but no hurricane (Francis, 1998). Because the official forecast was not cause for alarm, even as the winds picked up speed and the waves rolled in, nobody realized that a catastrophe was only a few hours away."
I was pregnant with our 3rd, just 3 months after the 2nd, and I had a history of abruption with the first one.
His words to me.. I'll never forget them..
"This is not a very smart thing to do so soon after your 2nd C-section..with your history.. Let's take care of this right away"..
I declined..and 4 1/2 months later I had another abruption, and our 3rd son..we both survived, but my doctor convinced me to have a tubal ligation..

Governor Cuomo Directs MTA to Move Forward with System-wide Shutdown
The MTA has been directed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to begin an orderly shutdown and suspension of all subway, bus and commuter railroad service at 7 p.m. Sunday. The decision was made to protect customers, employees and equipment from the wrath of Hurricane Sandy as the strong storm continues its march up the east coast.
MTA Chairman and CEO Joseph J. Lhota announced that service on NYC Transit subways will be curtailed beginning at 7 p.m., and the bus network within the following two hours. Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad will start their final trains by 7 p.m. from terminal locations. Subway and rail road stations will be closed after the last trains pass through stations. Outbound Access-A-Ride trips are being scheduled only until 12 p.m. today, and return trips will continue until 5 p.m. Any previously scheduled trips after that time, including subscription trips, are canceled. Customers are advised to adjust their plans and travel early in the day as possible and not wait until the last train or bus. Anyone who does not leave for their destination before 7 p.m. runs the risk of being stranded when service is suspended.
The MTA Hurricane Plan calls for suspending service hours before the approach of winds of 39 mph and higher. That gives MTA crews time to prepare rail and subway cars, buses, tunnels, yards and buildings for the storm, then return to safety. Winds of 39 mph and higher are predicted to reach the metropolitan region during the predawn hours Monday. The MTA has been preparing to suspend service for days by readying recovery equipment, clearing drainage areas, moving vehicles from low-lying areas at bus depots and rail yards and sealing some tunnel access points.
The duration of the service suspension is unknown, and there is no timetable for restoration. Service will be restored only when it is safe to do so, after careful inspections of all equipment and tracks. Even with minimal damage this is expected to be a lengthy process. Customers and the media should monitor this website or call 511 for the most current service information.
MSNBC reported earlier that they don't even start to count the absentee & provisional ballots for DAYS after the election... I do not trust the schemers in charge for a nano-second, let alone weeks..
I hope Obama can lock it up so that Ohio's votes are just icing on the cake, and they can take their sweet time and all their cheating will be for nothing..
Here's how he does it.
Here's how I would do it,,
Primaries would be grouped in clusters that would represent rural, urban,
They would alternate in priority, starting in January of election year..drawn by lot
All primaries would be over by June 30
Conventions in July
Debates in August
Voter registration would be opt OUT not opt IN..everyone registered as a VOTER..not as a republican or a democrat or anything else. If people wanted to be recognized as a party member that's up to them.
The STATE should not know the party affiliation
At 18 (or when naturalized), everyone gets their voter ID card...any 2nd ID verifies it.
States can run "their" elections anyway they want, BUT
elections with national consequences are standardized.. a 5 x 7 card with only THREE choices..president..senate ,,house
the only address verification double check would be for house, and a cell-phone bill should verify the house you live in and the street (for proper district)..
If states want to print 10 page ballots, let them, but for people who just want the "express vote" that does not require 10 hours in line, a card and a sharpie to mark 3 (maximum) marks, should speed things up considerably..and they are re-countable
I would also like to see donations come ONLY from the state/district of the candidates (for congress)...and for each party to have their own official channel on tv where they could voice their ideas..but NO defaming their opponents.
If their ideas are without merit, so be it.
The press (minus all that juicy ad money) might just have to get back to actually researching issues to draw viewers.
Of course it goes without saying, that I would like to see public financing, with all PAC money GONE..
A few "Kitty Dukakis" scenarios should make them think a bit..
What about a 38 yr old woman whose husband has had a vasectomy..and she's raped & becomes pregnant???
Will HE welcome that "blessing" with open arms? What if it will be a mixed race baby?
How about a Tagg Romney scenario.. What if their in-vitro fetus had shown signs of spina bifida?.. They DID have an abortion clause in the contract IIRC
How about a 12 yr old girl raped & impregnated ..What right-minded parent would not move heaven & earth to solve her problem..and fast?
and why are insurance policies not offered for those littlest of citizens until they are actually born?
He's the good looking guy from "the night before" who will say absolutely anything...will tell you you are the best..that he loves you.. you know the drill..
He's not "sweet talking" you so he can woo you into a long term relationship..
He wants one thing from you, and he will say anything he thinks you need to hear, to "close the deal".. He has no interest in your well-being, feelings or future.
When he's done & he sneaks out before you wake up....you will just be the butt of his jokes with his cronies in those "quiet rooms" where they congregate.
He cares only about what he wants, when he wants it, and doesn't give shit how he gets it.
He will lie, cheat or steal to get it.
He will knowingly hurt you (and others after you) to get it.
Sure, "this" guy just wants your vote..not necessarily the "carnal you", but the intent is the same.
Once he has used you for his electoral needs, you are useless and will be tossed in the trash..
So good luck with that Romney vote.
The really sad thing is that your vote for him could relegate the rest of us who will never submit to him, to the same fate.
