Does anyone think we will ever get out of this mess with Trump in charge?

Will the economy ever recover?

Will we ever get this virus under control?

Will the confidence ever be restored?

Will the fear ever disappear?

Will we ever return to anything "normal" while Donald Trump is in charge?

Suddenly, it has become politically feasible for Republicans to dump Trump?

Yesterday, it was reported in a tweet that Mitch McConnell had said that Trump was "nuts". Also, that he did not really care for the guy.

Whether that is true or not, it does seem like an appropriate time for Republicans to seriously consider someone else at the top of their ticket. Mr Trump does not have the glow he had just 3 or 4 months ago.

We can see their rationale. No doubt, they are taking inventory for November's election. It does not look good for their Leader or their Party at the present time.

They see huge debt and deficits for as far as the eye can see. They see double-digit unemployment. They see an unstable stock market. They see an unstable president. They are not holding a very good hand.

The opportunity is there for McConnell and the Repubs, if they choose to take advantage? We should not be surprised if that is something they are thinking about.

If they decide to send workers back to work?

They should start at the bottom and work up, in my opinion.

They should start with the smallest employers, from 1 to 20 employees. This small number could be instantly tested. They could have strict rules for working and associating with the public. This seems like a logical point to begin, in my opinion.

Larger employers could draw up plans on how they could bring their employees back, with the required testing and distancing.

In the interim, all these employees would be eligible to receive their unemployment insurance. Until there was a safe plan for them to return, they should follow present procedures.

Almost everyone believes that people have to return to work at some time. What must be prevented is a second wave, which can prove much more deadly than the first.

Just my opinion.

Are you going to mail in your ballot by UPS or FEDEX...?

In 1918, a new influenza virus emerged. During this same time period World War I was taking place. The conditions of World War I (overcrowding and global troop movement) helped the 1918 flu spread. The vulnerability of healthy young adults and the lack of vaccines and treatments created a major public health crisis, causing at least 50 million deaths worldwide, including approximately 675,000 in the United States. Easter Sunday 2020

We hesitate to say "Happy Easter".

But, all things shall pass.

Time resolves all issues.

I have a Chinese Cherry tree in my back yard that is blooming white as snow. The butterflies and honeybees were swarming, oblivious to the human, standing in the midst of them. I have never seen so many honeybees at work. It gave me hope.

Responding to the Hoover folks back in the 1930's, when they assured him that the economy would come back and everything would be back to normal "in the long run". Hopkins said, "people don't eat in the long run, they eat every day".

These long food lines are very disturbing. It is an immediate emergency when people do not have food. Everything else must be put on another burner. People can become desperate very quickly when their families are hungry.

Somebody in government should take charge and organize these cities and states to feed those that have lost their jobs and do not have food. The food banks should be supported by all of us.

We have seen the photos of the cars backed up in traffic jams in San Antonio and Pittsburgh, attempting to get to the food bank. But there is not enough food for so many people.

This should be at the top of our agenda at this time, in my opinion.

Easter was always my favorite holiday.

And Spring was always my favorite season.

But "April is the cruelest month" as T.S. Eliot once noted.

We endure as we isolate ourselves from friends and families. We assure ourselves that it will end soon and things will return to "normal".

However, things have not been "normal" for some time - at least 4 years.

It will take more than the defeat of this scourge to return to "normal".

It will take a return to sanity. It will take a defeat of the evil qualities that have been adopted by so many people. It will take a return to empathy and human compassion.

But first, we must realize. It will take a defeat of an evil narcissistic dictator and his accomplices before we can begin to heal ourselves.

It will not be easy and it is not guaranteed. Unfortunately, that is the only way to save our country.

The Easter flowers are blooming and the sun warms our shoulders on this Easter Sunday. But this month of April has been very cruel.
