What are the ingredients for a "chaotic disaster"?

President Obama referred to the Trump Administration's response to the COVID-19 as an "absolute chaotic disaster". And he is right.

What does it take to create such a disaster? Where does the chaos originate?

Apart from the dangerous self delusion, they mix in the lies, the diversions, the distractions, and the confusion and stir it all up. They end up with the present condition in our country.

They bake it well in the right-wing media and serve it out daily with their kool-aid.

This coronavirus has shown us that we need to fix our country or we will not have a country...

It has shown us that we have a shortage of doctors and nurses and hospital equipment. There is no reason this problem cannot be fixed. We should not depend on foreign suppliers.

It has shown us that Wall Street has very little to do with Main Street. It is nothing more than an enclave for the wealthy that are first in line for a bailout when the market heads south. They should be forced to pay it back to the people.

The employer-based healthcare system is a total failure during this pandemic. Workers simply cannot afford the insurance provided when they lose their jobs, if there is any at all. It is not a reliable healthcare system. It needs to be fixed.

The food supply chain is too dependent on large corporate farmers, especially cattle and pig farmers and meat-butchering plants. There needs to be more smaller farms that are scattered regionally throughout the country.

Money and handouts cannot save us from ourselves. It is up to us to make the changes needed and that includes our political system. It has failed. It has been exposed, with all its flaws. How can they just pack up and leave?

There are many deficiencies that have been uncovered by this epidemic and one person cannot fix it. It cannot be fixed individually. It must be a government project. It must include all our people.

It will take progressive ideas to help us repair our country, in my opinion.

**U.S. Chief Justice puts hold on disclosure of Russia investigation materials**

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-mueller-idUSKBN22K268?utm_source=34553&utm_medium=partner

<snip>
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts on Friday put a temporary hold on the disclosure to a Democratic-led House of Representatives committee of grand jury material redacted from former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The block will remain in place while the court considers what action to take. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled in March that the materials had to be disclosed to the House Judiciary Committee and refused to put that decision on hold. The appeals court said the materials had to be handed over by May 11 if the Supreme Court did not intervene.

The committee’s lawyers have until May 18 to file their response to the Justice Department’s request to block the materials being immediately handed over, Roberts’ brief order said.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday is scheduled to hear another showdown between Trump and the House, this time over committee subpoenas seeking his financial documents from his accounting firm and two banks. On the same day, the court is also weighing an attempt by a New York grand jury to obtain Trump’s tax returns and related materials.

What do we know about this Judge that is going to rule on Flynn's case this Monday?

Do Barr and Trump already have an idea about how he will vote? Otherwise, why bring it up at this time?

I hope this Judge holds firm for the law and that it is appealed to the Supreme Court. It would be a landmark decision.

How much powers would they permit the Executive Branch to hold, as they are presumed to be an equal Branch, also?

Or would they just refuse to take it?

All the information, Mueller Report and all, need to be made public. The people need to know the facts of the matter.

The Court may decide that this Justice Department, with Bill Barr, has gone too far in putting the Three Branches out of balance, and that justice should run its course?

Or they may rule that the Attorney General has the final say on legal proceedings in process. He can stop them at any time and state that the defendant did not mean to plead "guilty".

Of course, we have to see what the Judge on Monday says about it.

**SHOCKING !** IT WAS NOT A HOAX !

With the release of the full Mueller Report and the House Intel interviews, the evidence will show that the FBI had a duty and responsibility to investigate what they heard and what they were told under oath.

General Flynn had pleaded guilty. He lied to the FBI.

Donald Trump relieved him of his duty as the National Security Adviser because he reportedly lied to VP Pence.

Bill Barr covered up the Mueller Report to protect Donald Trump.

Several witnesses, under oath, told the Mueller team about the many connections to Russia and Vladimir Putin.

Sadly, nothing will be done. Donald J Trump has already been impeached. And Moscow Mitch has been proven as wrong as Bill Barr. They betrayed our country.

The only news to glean from the release of all the documents is that it was not a "hoax". It was a necessary investigation which should have been taken seriously by Democrats and Republicans, not just the Democrats. It should have been "bi-partisan". Instead, Republicans chose Party over Country.

Less than 10 days ago, we were talking about the lives lost in the Vietnam War...

It seemed like a landmark number, 58,220. The Corona virus was soon to eclipse those that lost their lives in a ten-year war.

Today, a few days later, the number of dead from the COVID is set to pass the 75,000 mark.

The danger is that it may become a statistic instead of a tragedy.

When will it end? Where will it end?

No one expects it to end abruptly, except maybe Donald Trump?

If it continues thru the summer months, some might expect it to return with a vengeance during the flu season this winter?

The odds are that many more lives will be lost before we have a vaccine, if we ever do?

It is more likely that we will develop a "herd immunity" and learn to live with this threat for the next two or three years.

Just my opinion .

Coronavirus and xenophobia: 'Blame China' is Trump's 2020 version of 'Build the wall'

https://www.desertsun.com/story/opinion/2020/05/06/trump-blame-china-coronavirus-new-blame-mexico-build-wall-column/3085647001/

<snip>
In 2016, Donald Trump fueled his improbable presidential victory with an arsenal of catch-phrases designed to incite and excite the Fox News and Breitbart audience that lives in fear of America’s diversity and inevitable demographic changes. “Make America Great Again” and “Build the Wall” were staples of Trump’s road show. As the 2020 campaign comes into focus, Trump is looking to recreate the success of 2016 by refreshing his xenophobic rhetoric and channeling it toward China.

The coronavirus has presented the president with an adversary unlike any other he has confronted. It cannot be intimidated by angry tweets. It cannot be dismissed with a nickname. It cannot be diminished by calling it a “hoax,” as he did in February. And as the death toll rises, while Trump’s poll numbers fall, a new, old strategy is taking shape.

Candidate Trump declared in 2016 that Mexico was “sending people that have lots of problems” to the United States. “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” he claimed. He declared that “They’re taking our jobs…They’re taking our money,” creating an “us-vs-them” dynamic to justify his foray into anti-immigrant hate-speech.

Four years later, Trump and his Republican enablers are offering the country what amounts to a remix of 2016, this time replacing Mexico with China. On April 18th, the president tweeted, “China wants Sleepy Joe sooo badly. They want all of those billions of dollars that they have been paying to the U.S. back, and much more. Joe is an easy mark, their DREAM CANDIDATE!”
