Fire On The Mountain

May 22, 2021

Timing is everything.

Ready. Fire. Aim!

I have noticed that Democrats are usually more straightforward and honest in their intentions than Republicans. Their inclination to honesty and openness does not serve them well in many political circumstances.

For example, the Senate refusal to approve a January 6th Commission. Democrats understand what happened. So do Republicans. If they take the vote now, or even next week, it would probably not be successful.

But events and circumstances change from day to day. Democrats could wait for a more opportune time, rather than take a vote that they know will not succeed.

Patience is a virtue in politics, as in most of life. Most likely a big story will break in the next few weeks that will embarrass the Republicans, or at the very least, generate a "no comment" from them. When the right story falls, that might be a more appropriate time to vote for a Commission.

But, sometimes Democrats are like the old vulture sitting on a dead juniper limb. 'Patience, my ass! I wanna kill something!"

Was the Dept of Justice waiting on the Congress to finish their Commission Report?

Before they pressed further with any charges relating to the January 6th insurrection?

If not, will they now feel obligated to charge anyone complicit with the attack?

Or will they now wait for the Select Committee to finish its work?

Will they continue their hunt for the criminals that breached and attacked our Capitol?

What purpose would it serve to charge Trump or any of his cronies at this time? Would it make the situation better or worse?

Is America still in danger of losing her democracy?

Is most of it simple hyperbole? Are citizens' distrust and fears legitimate?

A great many thought everything would be much better when Biden was the President .

In some areas, especially those that were of utmost importance, such as the health of the American people, the situation seems to be much improved. The majority of Americans believe the new President has done a great job in fighting the pandemic, under enormous challenges.

The economy was in terrible shape, after many of the businesses were forced to shut down, and many people lost their jobs. It now seems to have gained its land legs, although still wobbly. That was no small accomplishment.

But, in some areas, it seems there is still a threat to our country. It should disturb every American to see what is going on in Arizona with the scam audit. There can be no valid audit, without legitimate and independent watchers, and without strict control of the movements of the ballots. That is a necessity.

Unfortunately, that has not happened in Arizona.

Also, there is increased "concern", with the growing threats of right-wing extremists groups. Some believe it has gotten worse since the present mob, now under custody, attacked our Capitol, and are refusing to accept any plea deals, perhaps under hopes that their Leader will come to save them. (Perhaps one out of the over four hundred insurrectionists arrested thus far?)

They believe they just have to be patient.

Now that the tanking economy and the pandemic are mostly under control, perhaps the DOJ will have time to focus on other pressing challenges and threats? (Such as saving our democracy from the insane radicals that have taken over the Republican Party)

Criminals Amongst Us

They profess to be patriots. They love America more than you.

They fly huge American flags. They also fly "Don't Tread On Me" flags just so you know how badass they are. And their favorite flag of all is their yuge, blue Trump flag. They would kill for that one. Literally.

All of their spoons are not in the same drawer. They are a paranoid bunch. They are criminally inclined. They think like criminals and they act like criminals. They are not American "patriots".

They are followers. They belong to a cult. They would travel to hell and back if their Leader requested them to do so. They would march on our nation's Capitol if he asked them. They would fight Capitol Police in hand-to-hand combat to show their loyalty. They would kill people that dared to get in their way. They would knock out windows and use anything they could get their hands on to ram thru the doors and destroy property belonging to all Americans. Because they are special. They are criminals.

The same rules do not apply to them.

Because they love America.

The Trump Derangement Syndrome has affected the mental health of this nation.

None, moreso than the Republicans in the Congress of the United States. They are mentally ill. They need help. Their recent actions indicate they no longer have the ability to determine right from wrong.

But, it is not just the Republicans that have been affected, it is everyone. Where once "good and evil" were discussed in philosophical discussions, it has now manifest itself in our society.

We are forced to choose between our friends and our belief systems. We are demanded to choose something that makes us uncomfortable and fearful for the future. We have divided ourselves behind political labels and name-calling. It is a very unhealthy situation.

In my opinion, this is where America is today. Our country has been challenged unlike any time in our history. It has affected the mental well-being of all of us.

In order to escape, we must understand where we are and why we are here. We must rise above the confusion and chaos that surrounds us.

Like everyone else, we are affected by the manifestation of evil that has come upon us. Our lives and our mental health have been affected.

"Doctor, heal thyself." America must heal itself. The first step is to realize that our mental health has been affected by the physical (medical) and political challenges we have faced.

Just my opinion.

One year from today...

The Select Committee of the House is scheduled to hear three witnesses, including one participant in the Insurrection of January 6th. They will also hear the testimony of a Capitol Hill policeman.

Republicans are complaining of the manner in which the Committee is being run. They say they are not treated fairly. Some threaten to walk out.

(Democrats point out to the whiners that they were offered a balanced Commission and they turned it down. It would have been completed in December of 2021.)

There is tremendous controversy in that Minority Leader McCarthy and former President Donald Trump are refusing to testify, even under threat of subpoena. There is speculation that it will go all the way to the Supreme Court. The Biden Justice Dept says they have no special right to reject the subpoena and should have to testify.

Republicans claim that the Democrats are using the Select Committee for political purposes, before the 2022 midterms. Democrats remind them of the Benghazi Select Committee of a few years ago.

Is that where we are going to be one year from now?

Republicans do not want to talk about the insurrrection and the attack on our Capitol because...

...it will take away from their ability to attack the Democrats and their "far-left" agenda.

Is that what I just heard Senator John Thune say on CNN?

The "far left" agenda of the Democrats is worse than an attack on our Capitol and our democracy? What part of the Democrats' agenda is worse than what the Republicans have in supporting Donald Trump and an over-throw of an election, a coup d'etat? I cannot think of anything in the Democratic agenda that compares to this betrayal?
