First all-Black NFL officiating crew to work Monday Night Football game

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30335214/first-all-black-nfl-officiating-crew-work-monday-night-football-game

The NFL has assembled an all-Black officiating crew for the first time to work Monday night's game between the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, citing the opportunity to recognize the league's history and recent practices in diversifying its officiating department.

The crew will be led by referee Jerome Boger and includes four members of his 2020 crew. Monday night's group will include umpire Barry Anderson, down judge Julian Mapp, line judge Carl Johnson, side judge Dale Shaw, field judge Anthony Jeffries and back judge Greg Steed.

The NFL typically assembles its 17 officiating crews prior to the season and works to keep them together for each game to promote cohesion and communication. It organized the crews by home geography this season because of the coronavirus pandemic, giving officials the option to drive rather than fly to games if desired.

Four of the NFL's 17 referee/crew chiefs are Black -- Boger, Ron Torbert, Adrian Hill and Shawn Smith -- a higher percentage than for NFL coaches or general managers. Two members of its three-man leadership team, senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron and senior vice president of officiating administration Perry Fewell, are minorities. The NFL hired Burl Toler, the first Black official in any major sports league, in 1965.

Moderna's vaccine can be kept in a freezer - logistical game changer

Moving and distributing the Pfizer vaccine is a logistical and storage problem. Being able to just use refrigeration trucks could have some issues with capacity but it’s waaaay better than negative 90.

Moderna said Monday its vaccine remains stable at 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of a standard home or medical refrigerator, for up to 30 days. It can be stored for up to six months at negative 4 degrees Fahrenheit. By comparison, Pfizer's vaccine requires a storage temperature of minus 94 degrees Fahrenheit.

Morning Joe - no Joe but Jon Meacham yes. ???

I’d understood that Meacham was “let go” by MSNBC when it was revealed that he was writing speeches for Biden. Or tha t he didn’t reveal to them that he was working with the Biden campaign.

Going to the 7:00 eastern break Mika thanked him so may he was there in the first hour as sort of a co-hosts.

I was pleasantly surprised to see him on TV this morning.

ON EDIT - I see this

MSNBC announced on Monday that, “per network policy,” presidential historian Jon Meacham would no longer be serving as a MSNBC contributor. “He will be welcome as a guest with full disclosure of his involvement with President-elect Joe Biden’s team,” noted a network spokesperson.

60 Minutes (Obama) will be late tonight. I'd guess at least 20 minutes.

Football game has over 6:00 left and it’s a close game.

Dreading the 10 o'clock rule today.

The unofficial rule in the ‘burbs that says no noise making activities until 10 especially on a Sunday. I have a LOT of leaves to corral at least. If I can get them bagged great but I’m just going for getting them onto to tarps.

I see leaves falling as I sit here. Falling, forever falling. I’d say we are about half way through emptying the trees.

Currently there is a dog who has me pinned down in the recliner.

Rudy wrecked it. Details on the Four Seasons & the disaster Rudy made of the already mess.

Giuliani wrecks Trump campaign's well-laid legal plans

Senior campaign aides scurried to urge organizers to kill the event, infamously staged at the wrong “Four Seasons” — a landscaping business adjacent to an adult bookstore and a crematorium. But Giuliani plowed ahead anyway, delivering a conspiracy-filled rant that undercut the legal strategy the president’s advisers had meticulously mapped out in the run-up to the election.

Campaign officials described the episode as disastrous, saying it scared off many of the lawyers they spent months recruiting, who now no longer wanted to be involved. With the campaign already facing exceedingly long odds in its recount efforts, there are widespread concerns within Trumpworld and GOP circles that Giuliani’s antics are thwarting the president’s legal machinery from within.

Things came to a head during a meeting at the White House last Friday, one day before the Four Seasons Total Landscaping imbroglio. As the group batted around options before the president, Giuliani interjected and derided them as insufficiently aggressive. Some in the room were taken aback.

Republican officials said they viewed Trump's decision to promote Giuliani as an implicit acknowledgment that his legal options are closing and a sign that he's determined to go out guns blazing. Top Republicans described a feeling of resignation late Friday that the election was coming to a close.
