Southern Poverty Law Center Fires Co-Founder Morris Dees for Alleged Misconduct

The civil rights organization Southern Poverty Law Center announced Thursday it had fired co-founder Morris Dees. The Montgomery, Alabama–based organization, known for tracking hate groups, did not give a specific reason for the 82-year-old’s dismissal after nearly 50 years with the nonprofit group, but a SPLC statement issued in conjunction with Dees’ sacking indicates it was workplace misconduct. Dees also told the Associated Press “a personnel issue” was the point of contention.

“As a civil rights organization, the SPLC is committed to ensuring that the conduct of our staff reflects the mission of the organization and the values we hope to instill in the world,” SPLC president Richard Cohen said in an emailed statement. “When one of our own fails to meet those standards, no matter his or her role in the organization, we take it seriously and must take appropriate action.” For his part, Dees indicated he did not know the root cause of his dismissal from the organization he helped found in 1971 and that, he says, he had been less and less involved with day-to-day operations. “It was not my decision, what they did,” Dees told the Montgomery Advertiser. “I wish the center the absolute best. Whatever reasons they had of theirs, I don’t know.”

“Today we announced a number of immediate, concrete next steps we’re taking, including bringing in an outside organization to conduct a comprehensive assessment of our internal climate and workplace practices

Very funny.

GLEN WINS THE VIEWER COMMENT OF THE DAY... he wrote to me with a confession. Read his email below:

Curt, I have a story you might want to look into. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but in the wake of the college admissions scandal, I feel the need to get this off my chest. My family also paid bribes to get me into college. The admissions officer at Richard Bland Junior College wanted a carton of Marlboros and a three-piece, extra crispy, from KFC.

Klaatu "California Jam". NOT The Beatles covering The Beach Boys under a fake name 1972

The Band Everyone Thought Was The Beatles: Revisit the Klaatu Conspiracy of 1976

In 1976, hundreds of diehard Beatles fans became convinced that the mysterious album 3:47 EST by the band Klaatu was actually a new release from The Beatles in disguise, after a DJ in Providence, Rhode Island played one of its songs on the radio. Shortly afterward, Steve Smith discovered the album at the newspaper he worked for, Rhode Island’s The Providence Journal, listened to it, and became immediately intrigued.

The album contained no photographs, no identifying information at all, and the band’s The Day the Earth Stood Still reference echoed the cover of Ringo Starr’s album Goodnight Vienna. Smith heard Starr’s drumming, Harrison’s guitars, Lennon and McCartney’s voices in the psychedelic songs. Though he wasn’t a music critic or reporter himself, he persuaded the paper to publish a feature in which he suggested Klaatu could be The Beatles.

😆 Kellyanne Conway's Hot Take On College Admission Scandal Backfires Spectacularly

Between alternative facts, selling Ivanka’s shit, the Bowling Green massacre, and microwaves recording people...I would pump the brakes on insulting anyone’s intelligence.

These two are despicable.

Meanwhile, your boss is selling access to the White House. Ran a fake university and neither he or his children earned their way through any institution, more importantly, life.

Yes, it’s terrible when kids of wealthy parents get things they don’t earn, like college placements and security clearances.

Did you not get the memo that your boss literally used a fake university for the sole purpose of scamming the gullible.

Well sometimes those internet tips pay off - Jeans

I have a pair of jeans that are great except that the never "broke in" at the bottom of the legs.
They didn't fold around my shoes.

So I looked up "How to break in jeans".
One how to I saw had this whole process of soaking them in a vinegar/water mixture, let them dry, turning them inside out and using sandpaper, washing them alone, drying them with tennis balls.

I cut it down to just sandpapering the bottom 8-10 inches of each leg.

Worked like a charm.

It's about time...for some MEMES

$3. 💡. When I got home I read the warnings. ¿WTH?

So what is this thing?
