"Welcome BACK to August" I was going to say....
Before Afghanistan happened (just leaving that alone) it looked like an old traditional month of August at least in terms of DC. Congress is completely out of session, the POTUS was going on an extended vacation, basically nothing was happened in terms of news. At least political news.
Oh and you probably noticed the void of nonsense and attention seeking from the former guy. He used to have the stage to himself...or at least he stayed in the camera lens during the daily COVID show.
Yes COVID is still a topic of discussion on two of the news networks. Yes the CRISIS at the border is still the only thing happening on Fox (other than their grave concern for the people of Chicago). But not much else. This is the “dead period” sports talk radio hates.
Then...Afghanistan. It’s new and on camera and fully saturated the news coverage and really it should. Earthquake in Some poor country? Who wants to go there?!?! The planets on fire? Eh, no good footage there.
The point here is that the media has red meat and is desperate to get a good horse race going for next years midterms.

A person in Mississippi is hospitalized after reportedly ingesting livestock medication containing ivermectin from a feed store to treat or prevent COVID-19 — a remedy promoted heavily by right-wing vaccine opponents in recent weeks.
Ivermectin, normally used to treat parasites in humans and livestock, is now being prescribed by quack doctors and promoted in online forums as the latest version of the Trumpian drug hydroxychloroquine. Doctors promoting ivermectin as a COVID-19 treatment include America's Frontline Doctors, the Trump-promoted Texas group that includes accused Capitol insurrectionist Dr. Simone Gold and "alien DNA" specialist Dr. Stella Immanuel (pictured).
“Devotees have besieged pharmacists with prescriptions from shady online prescribers, forcing pharmacies to crack down and treat the antiparasitic drugs like opioids," the Daily Beast reported recently. "As human-approved ivermectin prescriptions have been harder to come by, enthusiasts have taken to raiding rural tractor supply stores in search of ivermectin horse paste (packed with 'apple flavor!') and weighed the benefits of taking ivermectin 'sheep drench' and a noromectin 'injection for swine and cattle.'"
Earlier this month, a Texas official reported a noticeable increase in calls to poison control centers related to ivermectin.

So I finally have a mask-grocery store story
I’m at the grocery store yesterday looking at iced tea options. I’d picked up Bojangles for my wife and didn’t get her the mongo cup of sweat tea so I figured I’d get some at the grocery store.
As I am just standing there I see a guy coming down the aisle with a cart. I step back to let him by and he stops....right in front of me...count to 8...and then moves on. I’m like WTF!?!!!
He had a mask on. That wasn’t the issue but he was pretty much a jerk.
