About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Rocket Man... ROFL!!!!!

Dammit, Segami, you would have to post something like that! I could watch that all day! Reminds me of last night...

I just got through sending the boys off to a brief tour. SHEESH... arguing, giggling, bickering, one of 'em snoring through the middle of it, another one in full face-palm position, and yet another one of them is recording everything with a shit-eating grin on his face. Your little gif reminds me of an average day with the band.

DAMMIT. This shit AGAIN...

Welcome to DU, BeanMusical!

Glad you're here! Stunning and really gratifying after the horrible election earlier this month. The first showdown and WE win it. How 'bout that!

STAND FIRM, MR. PRESIDENT!!!! Now, AND through the rest of this shit! Two years. That's all they've got. TWO YEARS, mitch. You'll just be settling in when we come and yank it back away from you. Knock yerself out, pal, 'cause you've only got two years. and the whole time you'll be scratching the teabagger fleas that will be infesting the Senate. Don't get too used to it, pal. You assholes will be back in the minority after we get through with you in 2016. I heard a report last night, on Lawrence O'Donnell's show I think, that Democrats have only one Senate seat to defend in 2016, when our crowd tends to show up big time anyway because it's a Presidential cycle. The bad guys have 20+ Senate seats to defend next time. Lawrence O'Donnell quoted from a GOP activist who predicted this exact fate for his party. Including their continuing expected exile from the White House.

So let's not prove that poor man to be a liar, shall we? Let's make damn sure his will have been a most accurate forecast. By then, who knows? Maybe if she remains a non-candidate, Elizabeth Warren will become Senate Majority Leader - OR Senate Whip.

I like that! Firewall-in-Chief!

Good one, Cha!

And YEAH! We should thank our Senators who voted it down. They withstood the bullshit and weren't buying. Both my Senators knew what to do. Barbara Boxer of course (she can ALWAYS be counted on!) and even Dianne Feinstein said no, too. How 'bout that!

One more DINO might soon be gone. Mary Landrieu may not survive this time.

Man we had to fight tooth and nail to save her ass six years ago, too.

Let's hope so! This assumes, however, that there's a heart anywhere in there to stab.

Which hasn't been confirmed in the least!

I think it's safe to assume that MOST if not ALL of these GOP pieces of shit bills

are in some way written or otherwise crafted by ALEC. Just assume that, going in. ALEC is in WAY this, DARK AND DEEP.

Besides, most of these reps are lazy. This is all the evidence you need to know that they don't even bother reading, or proof-reading, what's being given to them. They've already been dumbed-down enough. Brain atrophy. They probably wouldn't even know HOW to write a bill on their own at this point. That's what happens when you don't exercise your own critical thinking. You take the easy way out and simply stovepipe stuff. And then invariably you get caught.

Btw - I LOVE your little percussion video!

Man and Dog. BOTH ROCKIN'!

Hey, I am the original low bar!

MAN! FABULOUS! Impressive, librechik!

Plant the seeds. Stack the Legos. Chip away at the wall. It only takes one to get something started. Wow - just think: you all by yourself have more backbone, and bigger balls, than we see in most of the inhabitants of Capitol Hill - male OR female.

Rereading the other comments here - some of them are indeed quite valid (the "you should have stayed" ones) and I can appreciate the strategy behind them immensely! Being a subversive thinker myself, I can easily go that way. However, I still like what you did. You didn't just influence a potential jury. Your comments in open court like that - influenced EVERYBODY THERE. Potential jurors and others. You saw for yourself how there were some 20 others who, when asked, showed they felt the same way you did. Which I'm sure was illuminating to the judge and everyone else in court.

THE WORST PART OF THIS IS THE FEELING OF BEING ALONE. Probably everyone who raised his/her hand in agreement with your stated feelings was as nervous and shaky as you were. But now we know that in that courtroom there were many who share your view. EVERYBODY in that courtroom knew. I suspect there were a few more who also agreed but were reluctant to say so openly. This is, after all, a viewpoint against the big "just say no" machine that's dominated our country for years and forced upon us drug policies about which you presented very legitimate objections.

Sometimes, all it takes is to know somebody else shares your views or your feelings. You may have liberated and empowered others in that courtroom who heard your assertive comments - and maybe next time, THEY might feel motivated to speak up, too. Because they just found out THEY aren't alone in feeling that way, either. You may have started a little something!
