So did my mother-in-law

although it was diabetes and cancer that killed her. She just wasn't there anymore. It was so sad. Sweet woman. Didn't deserve that.

Network. Then Forbidden Planet, A Hard Day's Night, The King's Speech, The Godfather, Help.

That would be first. In a class by itself. UNBELIEVABLY prescient as to what's happening in media today.

Then -

Forbidden Planet
A Hard Day's Night
The King's Speech
The Hunt for Red October
The Godfather Parts 1 & 2
Help
Apollo 13
The Right Stuff
The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
and yeah, the Naked Gun movies.

I did too. LOTS of them.

Almost every damn one in the last month or so was a hair-on-fire email.

AND - when President Obama and VP Joe Biden were giving up 10% of their salaries during

the last budget drama - she was one of those who balked, as did that sniveling GOP'er renee ellmers. Guess she was too big to have to make even that symbolic solidarity sacrifice, 'eh?

I'm done with her. I wish the rest of our party was, too!

What can we DO about it? Seriously.

Yep, my point exactly. Any governor who got elected in the KEY years - the "zero years," will be

perfectly positioned to influence reapportionment. Any governor elected in 2012 would be in office too late, unless he/she was either a Dem with Dem-supervised reapportionment and interpretation of the census, or he/she could veto what comes charging at him/her from a GOP state legislature. It's CRITICALLY important to have D's in place there! 2012 is too late. Both 2014 and 2016 are too late AND too early. You need to have a Dem WIN in either the 8s or the zero years, in order to have ANY influence over how the census is applied and districts are reapportioned. To ignore or forget that is LETHAL in politics. Look what we're up against now. Roughly ONE MILLION more Democratic votes even in a Presidential year, and we STILL do not dominate the House. Because the bad guys rigged it with the governorships. And ALEC was in there, and koch brothers/American Enterprise Institute/brent bozell-kkkkarl rove-reince priebus-limbaugh were in there pounding away giving it big-time tailwind and grooming and strategizing for the Secretary of State seats in as many states as possible. The Secretary of State's job includes supervision and oversight of elections.

So it is CRITICAL to dig in deep at the state level, and unfortunately, the GOP has a head start THERE, too, dammit! We need to focus on as many governorships and secretary-of-state jobs as we can.

There is more to be concerned with, as far as developing and focusing strategies for victory in the coming election cycles. In 2016, since governorships are mostly four-year terms, we start getting back into the red zone. Whoever wins in 2016 will be an incumbent in 2020 (another "zero year" as well as a presidential year) and have the advantage and power of incumbency. The odds are, in such a situation, incumbents tend to be favored. And even if they've done shit jobs, they're STILL favored. Look at rick scott in Florida and sam fucking brownback in Kansas. Their obits were being written because they were so incompetent at their jobs and thus justifiably unpopular! And they STILL prevailed! scott walker in Wisconsin, too! So the next election cycle is BEYOND critical!!!!

And sadly, I don't see and haven't heart ANY indication that DEBBIE is even looking ahead with that in mind.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
