Welcome to DU, Lindalouuu!

You rhyme! Maybe you were meant to find your way here!

DU has been a good place to hang for a long time. It's certainly what helped some of us get through - and outlast - bush/cheney.

I've heard that description before.

"The (only) adult in the room". I've even used it myself.

Truly. It's like she's the teacher standing firm and cool, calm, & collected, surrounded by a room full of spoiled, out-of-control five-year-old bullies.

It's this mindbogglingly gorgeous stuff called dichroic glass.

That's a fused glass piece. Notice the long, dark-toned bar that's sort of rainbow-y at the upper end? That's a piece of dichroic glass. This specific one is black art glass coated with various mixtures of precious metal powders - that, when treated in a special vacuum chamber, and fired in an industrial kiln, wind up as fabulous, nearly psychedelic, iridescent glass. When those compounds are applied to clear glass, it produces art glass that shows certain colors when you have it in your hand or maybe sitting on a plain tabletop, but held up to the light reveal all kinds of other, complementary colors. It's like you see two colors, from the same glass. TRIPPY as All-Get-Out!

A good friend of ours, who works in it a lot as an artist, got me into this. I've taken a few workshops which are amazing fun and what you can make can just blow yer mind!

Here: Enjoy!

Welcome to DU, Big_K!

I would assume Donald's got a lock on Russia. Or, rather, they've got a lock on him.

Awww... sweet Joan. I loved her for decades!

Miss her still. She, too, took shit for breaking her own glass ceiling - being the first woman to host a late-night comedy/variety show a la "The Tonight Show" etc. Good Grief she took shit for that. I remember feeling so proud of her for blazing that trail! Stephanie Miller, too, had one for awhile. Ratings didn't hold - in either case. It was hard lift for women. I'm hoping that Samantha Bee's show prevails. She's damn funny, and she deserves it!

Just imagine what Joan Rivers would have to say about Trump!

I do kinda feel sorry for the vermin-infested dogs, though.

I like the dogs. Would want to rescue them, give them some medication and one helluva good flea bath! I was going to say the human version of same I would leave in the compounds of shit out in the hinterlands, but it occurred to me that maybe what THEY need is medication and one helluva good flea bath, too! Mentally, emotionally, and physically!

That would be delicious to take Florida.

It'd be great to take it all the way to True Blue if we can eventually take the governor's mansion. Personally, I'm STILL smarting over Selection 2000. Still wanting some really thorough, decisive, and preferably PERMANENT payback.

I would expect him to hold it at Trump Tower.

After all, then he could charge his campaign an exhorbitant "rental fee" for a "campaign venue" and pocket some more of his donors' money.

Hillary's gonna be at the Javits Center. The one with the Big Glass Ceiling!!!

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
