Breathtaking!

That's all we can do, Cracklin Charlie.

Make sure the young 'uns DO NOT forget. Make sure they KNOW. Make sure they understand what it took to get here. The fucking damn ridiculous detestable and so damn UNNECESSARY STRUGGLE!

Make doggone sure we ourselves get to the polls WHENEVER there is an election. And DO NOT slack off during the midterms! That's how we got the damn teabaggers! That's how we lost the House.

And Then...

Make doggone sure our young, the younger generations DO NOT lose sight of what it took to get here. Even to this point right now, with the election still a week away.

Tell the young college-bound girls about Roe v Wade - how it used to be. How monstrous it was. How girls and young women DIED. Sometimes they bled to death. Outside, on the curb, into the street. In great pain, and terrified, and more often than not, alone.

Tell them about those bad old days when you could actually be arrested for sitting at the lunch counter if you had black skin. How you couldn't use the same doors, the same restrooms, the same water fountains, even.

Tell them how, even TODAY, if you drive across the country from one end to the other, you will cross state lines where your marriage might be illegal, and not honored.

Tell them that stuff. Don't let that history slip away! For all we know, the more the CONS and radical evangelicals and other assorted knuckle-draggers are able to gain power, the less this will even be taught in schools! They've already decided that civics class is no longer necessary. So it's MASSIVELY up to us to help them know.

Obama CAN fire him, or ask for his resignation. The FBI director serves at the pleasure

of the President. Like so many others in the Executive branch. He's nominated by the President, confirmed by the Senate.

Nifty guidepost I found here:
FBI DIRECTOR: APPOINTMENT AND TENURE
http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R41850.pdf

Note the first line:

"The Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is appointed by the President by and with the advice and consent of the Senate."

It also goes into some detail about past FBI directors who've been fired. By the President. Most interesting.

Office politics. YUCK!!! I HATED them.

When I was interviewed for the next big job (the one in which you made permanent status if you survived the probation period), they actually asked me - "okay, we know all the things you're good at. We see your resume, we've researched you, we know what you've done. So, let me ask you - what are you NOT good at?" I got a sudden inspiration, that was, happily enough, the truth and nothing but the truth: "Office politics. I'm a better observer OF them than I am a participant IN them." The interviewer laughed out loud. He chucked and said "I like that!" And I was hired.

I used to get a big kick out of some of the headlines in the trades.

The "Boffo BO" one always made me laugh! That one got hauled out every so often after some movie's colossal opening weekend. "BO" stood for "box office."

GREAT report, Cane4Dems!

Sheesh - it's just a week away. I am SO doggone weary. I am SO ready for this to end.
