George Takei nails it AGAIN.

November 26, 2019

That's the unfortunate reality of how this would end, though.

The one overriding fact is - nobody wants to have to admit they were wrong.

Nobody wants to own up. And recognize openly that they were wrong. Especially when most of ‘em have made bank on standing firm on their cockamamie “belief” in all the bullshit. They’ve stood firm arguing with their neighbors, arguing on TV, arguing in Congress, putting their names and faces and reputations large and small - on this. And there’s really no easy way to save face. It’s hard to admit you were wrong. Nobody likes it. Nobody really wants to. And now, there are jerks like Rick Perry bringing God into it. Kinda hard to collapse that crazy-in-the-head construct when you’ve gone around all over everywhere claiming that God willed this.

They’re clinging to this alternate world for dear life.

This is the ultimate “Wish Sandwich.” As they said in “The Blues Brothers,” a “Wish Sandwich” is where “you have two pieces of bread and you WISH you had some meat.” It’s not there, but you can wish it was, all day long. And somehow, magically, it becomes true!

But in the end, no matter how hard you wished or how fervently you believed, it turns out you still didn’t have any meat. None. Not even a micron’s worth.

As the saying goes, “facts are stubborn things.”

Yeah, no kidding.

No. We HAVE TO leave a mark. Censure means squat. Nothing. Zip. Nada. Zero.

Actually, censure in this case means nothing but cowardice.

This bastard MUST be impeached. That is an absolute MUST. For the level of deliberate, wanton, reckless, thoughtless, creepy, selfish, short-sighted, and outright LAWLESS and utterly CRIMINAL behavior of this so-called “pResident,” impeachment is the only move we can make.

He should have to live the rest of his miserable life with that mark by his name. And go into the history books with that permanent blot on his record.

Shit - I wish I had contacts within the upper reaches of the DNC.

I'd suggest they hire you as a speechwriter, especially as the Democratic Convention gets closer.

And that's the messaging!

What’s it gonna be? The Constitution of the United States, or trump/Putin?

It’s ONE or the OTHER. You CANNOT pledge allegiance to both. You DON’T GET TO pledge allegiance to both.

And yes, it’s trump/Putin. They’re attached like conjoined twins.

Fifth grade. Our teacher had been called out of the classroom.

I didn’t really think about it, even though she was gone for awhile. She returned. “Girls, nobody scream. The President is dead.” We froze. That was NOT what we’d ever expected to hear.

She’d been in the library with other teachers and staff watching the TV in there. We were silent. The bell rang for lunchtime. We all lined up, still thunderstruck. Everybody else heading down to lunch too was behaving the same way. Nobody said a word.

Downstairs, our class was about to enjoy the special table setup for when a student had a birthday. Several tables were arranged end-to-end into one long table with the birthday girl at the head. Usually birthdays were loud raucous celebrations with cake at the end and the whole lunchroom singing “Happy Birthday”. It was always a fun break in the day. But not this time. Catholic school, first Catholic President, a source of pride, and all that. It felt terrible.

I remember feeling so bad for that day’s birthday girl. Everybody always looked forward to somebody having a birthday. But we all sat there somber as could be. Nobody spoke. In the whole room.

The rest of the day was a blur. Somber and silent at home too. It was a Friday. I remember watching the TV coverage all weekend. Couldn’t pull myself away.

Still love his work.

I totally get this one, too.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
