Thanks!

For fans of "The West Wing," they referred to it as "Take Out the Trash Night."

Yeah, NO KIDDING. And a truly marvelous image.

Wish it would remind everybody, everywhere, to GET ALONG, DAMMIT!!! And TAKE CARE OF THIS ONE LITTLE PLANET WE HAVE. It's this one-and-only place to live that all of us terrestrial, carbon-based lifeforms have in the known universe.

We have a winner!

If anything's gonna turn off the younger voters, fighting them on pot legalization would. And WILL.

There's always an exception...

I remember when my mom died. DU sure rose to the occasion to console me, and I felt as though people here were keeping vigil with me during that first night as I tried to wrap my mind around her death. This is a good place, for all its disagreements and warts and wrinkles. Please reconsider, dear friend.

Welcome to DU, Rockyj!

Glad to have you with us!

"Can I piss on you?" Ed Asner asks a hapless Pox Noise producer. calimary would add - "take a number."

Welcome to DU, RudynJack!

Good to have you with us! Yeah, there's the human level, certainly. But life is full of disappointments. They thought they were going to win because they trusted the polls and research and campaign wisdom of the alternate universe. AND because they're card-carrying members of the World's-Biggest-Entitlement-Program Club: the entitlement that they and other super rich folks feel they have - to rule. They think it's their birthright, that it's their rightful place in this country - calling the shots and ordering everyone else around and being the Deciders. They just assume that, by being rich, it's just theirs, it just belongs to them, and they're OWED. Simply by virtue of being rich and privileged.

A white flag is more like it. Or should be.

It was and is NOT your destiny to be in the White House, your ladyship.

I'd rather she spend her free time crying - than see hundreds of thousands of poor families, middle-incomers, and single moms crying - while trying to raise a family on dirt "wages" from a boss who renegs on her benefits, or pensioners struggling just to get by and crying because they're forced yet again to choose between paying for their medications or food. Her ladyship can afford warehouses full of Kleenex or embroidered imported linen handkerchiefs with which to dry those tears. Others will be spared theirs - because wrongney was denied the chance to "run the country" and implement his Marie Antoinette Scrooge policies that benefit only other folks like him.

That's a REALLY good point, Baitball Blogger.

If we think back...

Remember during the bush2 years when EVERYTHING that they did was timed strategically. Either positively or negatively, either actively or passively. It was all about timing. They scheduled EVERYTHING very purposefully. Things - either White House initiatives or campaigns or releases or events or trips, or other GOP/CONservative-related events were timed strategically. It was all about pressing an advantage, attempting to manage perception or control or modify public opinion, to manipulate circumstances for the benefit of THEIR guy, THEIR agenda, and THEIR continued dominance.

As you can imagine, there was MANY a Friday Night News Dump as they attempted to manage the public's awareness of events or statements unfavorable to them. Dump it Friday night when there's no real serious news anybody bothers with - til the Sunday morning shows, and the first regularly scheduled stuff doesn't crank back up til the wee hours of Monday morning. THREE days later. And Short-Attention-Span America will forget the nasty stuff by then. The crowd inside the Beltway and the chattering class won't, but the public at large will have moved on. And other news is reliably certain to break in the meantime, anyway, pushing whatever bad news the dubya folks were trying to minimize - mercifully down off Page One and no longer the Top Story of the Hour. They were VERY savvy about what makes the low-information or gullible or fearful or otherwise easily-manipulated - OR willfully ignorant consumer tick. They were totally clued-in as to what resonated with Joe and Jane Plumber and rang their chimes. And they knew all kinds of ways to manipulate their victims' thinking and their opinions and the way they viewed the world.

These people were nasty. Manipulative. Scheming. Selfish. Entitled and hellbent on keeping it that way. They figured out how to launch the war they wanted based on ginning up people's fears and angers and resentments toward - well, an imaginary enemy. Like the Saddam Hussein who they insisted was behind 9/11. They try that relentlessly, still, with garbage like how the trickle-down theory just is the absolute Key to Eternal Happiness and Magic Wealth and Freedom from Irregularity, the Heartbreak of Psoriasis, and Lovers' Catarrh. And don't forget their endless collective hard-on (YEOWWW! More than four hours! Call your doctor!) to make sure the rich and super rich don't have to pay their fair share. They manipulated everything.

So if they're blurting this out before the week's even halfway over, that's a tip-off that there's some really serious urgency over there. They're in a hurry. SOME among them have begun to understand Just. How. BAD. They. Looked. on that election night. MAYBE (?) some of them have begun to realize how cockeyed and wrong they've been about their coverage leading up to that election night, too? That one may be too much to hope for. But clearly there IS something they are anxious, even desperate, to fix. There's something that stinks so bad even THEY can't keep it around and pretend it isn't as foul as it is. There's something about this from which they are VERY interested in getting away. Yep, stinks that bad. This one couldn't wait.

Too bad they're just finding this out. We knew it in 2001. Hell, some here, who know Texas politics better than I do, knew about kkkarl rove during dubya's governor years. And many of us also watched the putrification of dick morris after he decided to turn on President Clinton during the whole Monica mess. That was certainly before the bush2 era.

I think this is as close as we've ever gotten to Pox Noise admitting it made a mistake. And a BIG one. They'll never come out and full-on admit it. They'll just do what they can, cosmetically, to make the problem go away. Take rove and morris off the air? Out of sight, out of mind. After all, you're dealing with low-information, gullible, naive, and willfully ignorant consumers here.

Wow - they're really getting it - as far as the "suck on THIS" negotiating tactic!

EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! Makes me smile SOOOOOOO wide!!!! I am severely loving the consequences of this 2012 Election!

Oh definitely - particularly her ladyship ayn of dressage. Her royal smugness.

You know, Drunken Irishman, I've seen an awful lot of coverage of Duchess Kate lately. A commoner who's pregnant with what would become England's future king or queen. Kate Middleton has been a royal by marriage for about a year-and-a-half. Even with that little time spent, she's got a galaxy more class than the imperious, smug, arrogant, entitled ann wrongney. Kate Middleton has more class and breeding in that kiddie photo of her in her pigtails and overalls climbing over something when she was maybe two or three years old - than ann wrongney has had throughout her privileged, cushy, elitist life. I'm happier that I won't have to look at her for the next four-to-eight years than even the thought of having to suffer her lying, greedy, entitled, money-worshipping, cardboard-cutout husband.

- to both of them.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
