About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Mine too, mcar.

With young people like her waiting in the wings to vote in a few years, that's a most hopeful sign.

That's what makes it Christmas.

Seriously. At the risk of stirring something up, Bernie would NOT have won.

If he'd been our candidate, he would have been CRUCIFIED by the GOP. Kurt Eichenwald of Newsweek reported that he SAW the bad guys' opposition research on Bernie, that they kept very close and quiet about. Eichenwald says the file the GOP had on Bernie was almost two feet thick. They would have unleashed the hounds and eaten him for a mid-morning snack.

"I have seen the opposition book assembled by Republicans for Sanders, and it was brutal. The Republicans would have torn him apart."

"The Republicans had at least four other damning Sanders videos (I donít know what they showed), and the opposition research folder was almost 2-feet thick. (The section calling him a communist with connections to Castro alone would have cost him Florida.) In other words, the belief that Sanders would have walked into the White House based on polls taken before anyone really attacked him is a delusion built on a scaffolding of political ignorance."

I HATE seeing Hillary STILL getting beaten up and blamed by what seems like everybody everywhere, including the incoming "President," Vladimir Putin and his little orange puppet friend. Just HATE it! Dammit - I want all the naysayers to stop beating up on her! Just makes me want to SCREAM!!! She did an EXCELLENT job on the campaign. She worked like a dog! She reached out to everybody. She had details and well-thought-out plans for everything. She understood the issues. She knew her stuff. She knew the turf. She knew the players - domestically AND globally. She is still a national treasure. She does NOT deserve all this shit (SHUT THE FUCK UP, Andrea Mitchell!).

It almost makes me cry - to think of what could have been. The loss of that talent, those brains, that steady hand, that class and dignity, that poise and composure and grace under fire, and the constant drumbeat of lies about her that people swallowed whole, without even bothering to chew - it's fucking INFURIATING. All that talent and capability and experience that we'll NEVER get. That America will NEVER get, to keep us stable and steady in rough and unstable times. It's lost to us. I doubt she'll run again. Hell, who would want to go through that punishment and torture - again??? I hope she has a happy and productive life in the private sector, and I hope she bills near-millions in speaking fees and book deals.

And I hope she's around to see all those who turned their backs on her have a forcible "come to Jesus" moment someday soon, and realize the gem they had in the palm of their hands, that they kicked to the curb. Because they were mad or wanted to lash out or some other lame, stupid-ass irrational idiot reason. I hope the "Don't Blame Me. I Voted for Hillary" bumper stickers start popping up everywhere from coast-to-coast. I hope she's around long enough to see herself vindicated. As far as I can see, there are at least 62 million people in this country and every last useless member of the fucking useless news media who owe her - and the rest of us (nationwide AND planet-wide) - a BIGTIME apology.

I won't hold my breath, though. That moment will come. Hell, in many respects, it's already here. And yet, I fully expect many of them will remain in denial.

Welcome to DU, Rural_Progressive!

When I think of all the things I want to call him, the standard day-to-day options include:
Resident trump: inspired by the early website Resident Bush (which I think doesn't exist anymore but it was through residentbush.com that I found DU back in 2001), after the disgraceful thievery Selection 2000. He was not my President. He will NEVER be my President. However, in the interest of factual accuracy, he DID move into the White House - for WAY too long - and so it seemed fitting to refer to him as Resident bush, or The Resident.
The Donald: always made sense. His first wife, Ivana, called him that with her thick Czech accent. Allows me to capitalize his name, which ordinarily I do not like to do. Just another way to show my complete disrespect and disregard for him. I never capitalized bush/cheney's names, either. For the same reason.
trump: last name's good enough, most of the time. By now it's pretty clear we're not talking about a bridge game.
donald trump: sometimes, we go formal.

I will not be attaching the word "President" to this bastard's name. I await the day when he AND all his little white henchmen are GONE.

Thanks but I should add that you are right about

the "stupid little nothing position" that really is nothing of the sort! I didn't intend to refer to the proverbial school board position as an insignificant job. You're spot on that it's incredibly important. It's about our kids' education and that's where deliberate, purposeful dumbing-down begins. Where the decisions are made that kids don't need Civics class anymore, for example. And that textbooks can be messed with so only certain versions of history are allowed to be taught.

And that's where devious little Ralph Reed decided the seeds of governmental takeovers can and should be planted. Because they're so low-profile and not exactly "sexy" or perceived as potentially powerful and usually easy (or easier) to win. Heck, all too often there may actually even be no opponent. You can start building your own little political power base almost literally under the radar.

Sneaky little shit, that Ralph Reed. Damn effective too, unfortunately. We need more of that kind of sneaky little shit working for OUR side!

He Who Must Not Be Named.

To riff off the Harry Potter books.

For me, it will always be He Who Must Not Be President.

I'm in! This is exquisitely delicious!

Did you make that up, Donkees? Just terrific!!! And accurate, also. I already spread it around where we went visiting, earlier today. Everybody there loved it, too!

That's a great one, handmade34!

We still say that, too. Seems the most inclusive way to go. This season is NOT about leaving anybody out.

Welcome to DU, Leghorn21!

Disgusting! That this pigfucker (INDEED! Excellent nickname, btw) has a position on a school board?!?!?

However - that's one place where these scheming assholes get started, if they fancy themselves upwardly mobile in politics. Run for some stupid little nothing position like the school board. And then build from there. Maybe in a couple of years you can run for city council. And then after putting in some time there, try a run for Congress. And from there - hey, it's anybody's guess how high you might climb!

Back in the 1970s and 80s, this guy Ralph Reed, of the so-called "Christian Coalition" of political/power avarice, advised his minions that this is the way to take over. Start small. Get in by running for some little nothing political job, and from there, start building your power base, and if you work it shrewdly enough, you can climb the ladder upward. Senator. Governor. Maybe even higher...

The CONS took that advice, starting back then. Wish our Dems did.

Shit like this that he says - and him, too.

Nasty, arrogant, belligerent fuck. A very poor and rather icky excuse for a human being.
