You, too, 'eh?

I agree with everything you said, Raine, and funny enough, just this weekend I was exorcising another demon or two from my own memories of "Life with Mother." With LOTS to go!!!

Diabeticman, there really isn't much you can do except what my husband did for me: stay close, stand staunchly by me and give me support, and stay out of it. Just understand you're dealing with a spoiled, mixed-up, adult-size child. It's not your battle to fight. You can't fix this, especially if the individual on the other end refuses to acknowledge any reason that there's something within them needing to be fixed.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww...

Itty bitties!

What did you say? NINE? Well done, mama dog! My tongue would be hangin' out, too, after a delivery like that!

I won't clap. Don't wanna wake anybody up!

Btw - Welcome to DU, uncommonlink!

Damn straight!

Yeah, don't I know it.

Even when they're sick and/or old and you know it's coming, it STILL isn't any easier.

I highly recommend litter mates. We have two cats we got as kittens, when we noticed it was these two who just stuck together - in a big pen with lots of little rescues all climbing all over the place. My husband picked one up to cuddle it a little and the other one looked so lonely without it. We couldn't take just one!

What a FABULOUS idea that turned out to be!!! We'll probably never do it differently again! When they're very little, they keep each other company, sleep together, explore together, play together, groom each other, fight with each other, when you go out they STILL have each other there for company and they don't feel abandoned or alone because they have that familiar sib around all the time. It's just very very dear to see and to watch! It's just the greatest!!!!

It will lift your heart and your spirits for sure. And it WILL help you heal more quickly.

When you're ready.

Just - when you're ready.

At this rate we need to redefine the whole notion of "American exceptionalism."

Thanks to these idiots (professional idiots by now), "American exceptionalism" is defined as the "right" to be exceptionally stupid. Bronze Age, anyone?

That's pretty damn funny!

Snakes will chase you!

When you're ready, you should adopt again.

You set up a mighty fine household for the quadrupeds. One of 'em out there would LOVE to be rescued by a loving foster parent like you.

I love what the Chinese First Lady is wearing in the first three photos!

And I love what Michelle Obama is wearing as well.

Damn! Those girls are growing up! So lovely!

As an American woman, I feel EXTREMELY well-represented by our First Lady. Sure didn't feel that way during the bush/cheney years.

Fair enough. Call me an Obamabot, too.

As much as he may frustrate me, and sometimes he does, he's still LIGHTYEARS better than what the bad guys tried to shove down our throats. And most of the time he's NOT terribly frustrating to me anyway. Overall, I happen to think he's pretty terrific, and at his worst, he's STILL better than anything they've got over on the Dark Side. I mean really. Think about it. sarah palin a heartbeat away from the presidency? Are you freakin' kidding me???? President romney with his "corporations are people, my friend" mentality - IN THE OVAL OFFICE???? CRIMINY!!!!!!! If you didn't like Tim Geithner, MAN would you have hated who romney might have chosen for Treasury Secretary. YEEEESH!!!!! It would have been a BILLION times worse, guaranteed!

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
