About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Yep. If I see "ActBlue" on there anywhere, I run the other way.

Thatís a good way to describe it, too, Rainbow Droid. ďLike fighting a hydra.Ē Terrific description, and accurate as well. Iíve even unsubscribed to some of these folks. But sometimes they pop back up. And it doesnít even end there!

The floodgates then get thrown wide open for people I never heard of - either running for something somewhere I never heard of, OR (get THIS!) theyMAY BE running in a future election for some minor job. Or they ARENíT EVEN running - they lost last time but theyíre just trying to keep their name in the public eye or maybe pay off their campaign debts.

Look, Iíd like to help all Dems. But Iím not exactly made of money. I have to donate judiciously and if it really means something to me. But if ActBlue is the gateway, NO THANKS!!!

I don't know. I hope YOU'RE right and I'm wrong.

I still remember how much we were looking forward to ďFitzmasĒ - and desperately-craved justice from prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald for bush/cheney/rove.

I like him a lot, too. Not quite ready to abandon Inslee though.

The climate crisis is tops with him. Buttigieg has it on his list, but it isnít tops.

Itís just the survival of this planet and all the life forms on it. No biggie...

On edit - we may have to wait longer than the 2020 election for ďthe gayĒ not to be off-putting to large segments of the electorate. More young people (millennials) have to age a little more, and the generation after them (the teens out protesting inaction on the climate crisis) has to move up - into and beyond voting age. These younger folks arenít hampered by the prejudices and gay-hatred that older voters still have. And as the elders AND their hang-ups die off, I think the younger generations moving in and taking over will bring in their non-judgmentalism and lack of prejudice into power and the majority of the electorate with them.

Iíve watched with great interest how the younger they are, the less theyíre hung up about skin color or sex. I think thatís because more families have seen their members come out, or marry someone of a different race or background, or they have friends in school or with whom they grew up who donít look like them (or date like them).

And THOSE are the ones who will reach adulthood and start taking over in leadership positions - in business, government, and other parts of daily life, and THEY will be the ones shaping public opinion. And they so far show themselves to be much more inclusive and less judgmental or prejudiced, generally speaking. Yes, there are pockets of continued weirdness and bullshittery and Neanderthal thinking. But that seems, to me, to be increasingly in the minority.

Meanwhile, Buttigieg is YOUNG! Heís still young enough to be a viable presidential candidate in a few more election cycles, when a more liberal and tolerant mindset becomes dominant, and only a few old rigid-thinking Bible-thumpers remain viable and able to shuffle into the voting booth.

Just my opinion, but one thing thatís long been fascinating to me is demographic studies.

Neither would I. Besides, I made a few donations through Act Blue and then

all of a sudden I started getting flooded with email appeals for contributions to every Tom, Dick, and Sherry running for everything from the US Senate and Governor all the way down to Hall Monitor in Never-Heard-Of-It-Before city in Fill-In-The-Blank-Here state.

They sell your info to anybody whoíll buy it. I DO NOT transact with Act Blue anymore, and will NOT do it again, EVER.

Yep. Wondering about that myself.

And a lot of people on our side stayed home. Or defected

because they somehow, inexplicably, couldnít find it in their hearts or minds to vote for Hillary. Even if they voted for President Obama twice. So they decided to take a chance on trump (???????). I will NEVER be able to find it in MY heart or mind to forgive those people. Or they stayed home because they were loyal to Bernie. Or they voted for Fucking Jill Fucking Stein. I will NEVER forgive that. Not EVER.

I once shared spit with Carl Reiner.

I posted about it here, one of the coolest memories I have of that crazy job I once had, covering entertainment.
