BBC's been running "Star Trek: The Next Generation" back-to-back this afternoon.
I had to switch away. Sometimes I just cannot withstand the avalanches of bad news. It just gets worse by the day. I feel like WE are the ones with backs against the wall. When by all rights (and if there was any justice in the world) it should be trump squarely in that sorry situation.
Welcome to DU, Westcoast52!
I hope you're right. SO MUCH of this looks, smells, walks, swims, and quacks like obstruction of justice.
Oh for Pete's Freakin' Sake! ANOTHER Russian?
W. T. F. ???
I swear, you turn over any rock on the White House grounds, and you're apt to find a Russian underneath it. And inside the executive mansion, every faucet in every bathroom and kitchen in the place emits hot 'n' cold running Russians. There are Russians in the insulation and under every seat cushion, and coming out of the woodwork forcryingoutloud!
I'm in my mid-60s, and I can NEVER remember this many people from a hostile foreign power encamped and established in OUR seat of government? And they're sure as hell aren't there out of the goodness of their hearts, or out of love of America.
Amen! I agree wholeheartedly, murielm99.
It hasn't been easy for Charles. And yeah, Camilla and all that.
But shit, guys - he loved HER first. He loved her pretty much ONLY. I don't know why. And I don't have to know why. And neither do the rest of us. He bowed to duty to queen and country - in marrying a suitable virgin (yes, even as recently as them, in the 1980s forcryingoutloud), the betrothed of the royal groom, particularly one who was next in line to the throne, had to be a virgin. The latest two duchesses, Kate and now Meghan, are only the first young wives who did NOT have that restriction hanging over their heads. I think it had something to do with an Old World mentality that the bride of the future king couldn't have been touched by another man. It's only in the last decade that such an old saw finally gave way.
And, what makes me smile is the idea that that, for all that rigid tradition and duty and obligation to the monarchy and the grooming for that big job that poor Charles had to deal with from childhood, he could finally marry for love, too. Granted it was a bumpy road to reach that change. Anybody ever see him as a child, brought to the train station to watch his mother ride away toward her royal duties that took her to another continent, for weeks at a time? I've seen some of those old film strips, and they almost make me cry. He was something like seven or eight years old, left behind, looking so sad and forlorn, so alone, and probably knowing he's supposed to be big and strong and not show emotion. How anybody now can begrudge him happiness with the one HE loves, is beyond me. But he finally got there, too. For whatever it's worth, it's Camilla he always loved. So seems to me it's Camilla with whom he should end up. His boys both were able to marry for love, and to feel that simple, basic, genuine happiness that all the rest of us take for granted. So why can't he, at last, be genuinely happy, as well?
Shit - I wouldn't want their money!
Well, I appreciate the read-thru. I already subscribe to several online outlets and
unfortunately can't subscribe to everything.
But... but... but... those Chinese jobs!
Aren't we all supposed to be doing our absolute utmost to recover and recreate those lost Chinese jobs?
Thanks for this!
And thanks also for the note about the paid subscription. Thanks to you, many who might not be able to pay to subscribe aren't completely barred from seeing important pieces like this.
