About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Sounds like a spoiled little boy who's always been told he's a king

or that he's just BETTER than everybody else.

How's THAT for "entitlement", 'eh?

This is a Wonderful essay, EffieBlack!

Greatly appreciate your perspective on this. Pretty neat, too, that you express it so eloquently here.

I like that!

“... in my ten years of dog-life...”

Yep. We should be reminding each other of that every day.

Multiple times a day. Why can’t WE repeat and repeat and repeat? That so-‘n’-so in the White House does nothing but repeat-repeat-repeat and he does get the message delivered.

I wish ALL our people with any platform from which to expound would embrace that repeat-repeat-repeat messaging technique. The other guys do it almost reflexively, individually and as media-manipulation gangs and groupspeakers. We’ve gotta respond! In kind! We can’t afford to keep bringing feather dusters to knife fights.

That’s what trump is trying to do: manage perception within his base. He repeats-repeats-repeats to DRIVE IT IN, and KEEP driving it in. And he understands they’ll take the bait. And they’re great civilian delivery systems. Because they’re noisy. They don’t let themselves be ignored. They’re fully aggrieved and resentful on so many levels and on so many subjects, AND better yet, they can be counted onto show up at the polls and VOTE. He’s doing everything he can to push that small but disproportionately loud base to make a lopsided stink about it and manipulate the way all its representatives in government respond, and react.

Interesting points.

They offer quite a bit of much-needed context. Another Limbaugh wannabe? Don’t we also have a so-called vice president* like that?

No kidding.

I saw he was “coming up on CNN” after a commercial break, and I raced to change the channel. Those would be minutes of my life otherwise lost forever and impossible to get back, if I wasted a single one of them listening to him

That's the one biggest thing these Parkland kids changed.

What’s the first thing they did after that horrifying real-life nightmare they all endured? Please note they DID NOT hold some candlelight vigil. They went straight to activism. They seized the moment NOT to celebrate victimhood and look inward and embrace their pain. Instead, they shifted to “what can we DO about it???”

They embraced empowerment. And activism. And defiance. And resolve. And not just sitting huddled in groups and crying together like frightened wounded victims. They took a stand to refuse delivery on victimhood. They looked outward, not inward. That is a huge change! And I think that’s what’s electrified this movement they’ve created.

If they can hold onto that, then we will ALL triumph! November will tell the story, for certain.

Love it!!!

Who’s a good dog!!!

But instead, he got an INTERNATIONAL debut.

It’s like being asked to perform at the inauguration or some such. Delightful to see such profound talent get a showcase like that! Well-deserved!

Congratulations, sellitman!

Wonderful milestone, at a wonderful place.
