George Takei ALWAYS nails it.

The Asset likes to brag "I make the best deals! Deals! Great deals!" I suppose we should start asking - "great for whom?"

Or just now waking up?

I have a whole agenda sketched out for when I'm president, following The Asset's time in OUR

White House. As president, I would sign an executive order mandating that news video of the actual press conference, in total, unedited, be added to the inevitable fawning and distorted display of "their version of the truth" - whenever The Asset attempts his own "presidential" "library." And I'll bet it'll be all gold-plated or, as it's described in the case of inexpensive costume jewelry, "gold-tone."

So do I. She's tried to do good, most of her life.

Even when she went over to Vietnam, she was still trying to do good - at least as she saw it. A LOT of us couldn't stomach that war.

If you think you can, then if you're ever in Washington DC, go seek out the Vietnam War Memorial. And start at one end, and walk down the path along the front face. Where all those names are engraved in dark-colored marble. Names of the 58-some-odd THOUSAND American dead from that war. It starts with a single line of names. As you continue walking, there are more lines, and more lines and more lines of names. Getting taller and taller as you walk farther along, and deeper down into a lower level of ground. Pretty soon you can't see the top ones anymore - they're that high up over your head. When you get to the bottom and start back up, the stacks of names start tapering back down.

And as you walk, you'll undoubtedly pass other pilgrims who've come to walk that walk. You'll see families and friends making rubbings of "that" name they found. You'll see little flags stuck in the ground below someone's name, by someone who misses him. You'll sometimes see a card, a handmade paper heart, a single flower or a little bouquet of flowers, and others trying to reach up and touch "that" name that's still special to them.

I challenge anyone who does this to walk the whole length, from one end to the other, looking at all those names of those lost souls, and not be crying by the time you reach the far end. I've teared up again just writing this and thinking back. It has THAT big an impact.

I was sobbing by then. The tears just came and I couldn't help it. It gives you an idea of just the magnitude of the loss. How MANY deaths. How many tears, spouses heartbroken, children left behind with no daddy (or in some cases, mommy) who will never know that lost parent. It's one of the heaviest experiences I've ever had, and I don't even know anybody who went over there and was killed. I know of no one to mourn personally or directly. Nevertheless, it still affected me PROFOUNDLY. I wasn't prepared, and didn't expect the impact of it. Bearing silent witness - in honor of all those voices that are forever silenced. It grabs you by the gut and won't let go, even hours - or days - later.

One of the most stunning and impactful monuments I have EVER seen. Maybe THE most EVER.

So do I, Hekate.

So do I.

They could all use a good dose of consequences for their sleazy cheating and gaming of the system.

Bill Shine.

He’s the new communications guy who used to be a Pox Noise executive. A real manipulator. I bet the fingerprints all over this are his.

Yeah. And frankly, it's a shame we even have to go there.

But DAMMIT, this is politics! Not a day at Ascot when the royals stroll by. Politics is dirty.

I love Michelle Obama! I admire and respect her and think she was a WONDERFUL First Lady - the likes of whom I wish we had now. But her sweet and compassionate and very moral endorsement "when they go low, we go high" just doesn't work in the dirty gritty real world. "When they go low, we go high" - and run straight over a cliff.

I WISH TO GOD it weren't that way, and that everybody on EVERY side played fair, and didn't cheat, and followed the rules, and didn't try to rig the game, and didn't engage in the black arts. But the other side won't. And when they don't, they win.

So I don't think we have much of a choice. I'm not interested in being the nice guy who finishes last. NOT when it comes to protecting our democracy and our rights and the country we love - AND the relationships with our allies that we've cultivated over many decades.

Wow. This one is good, too.

Makes you think. Numbers don’t lie.

Welcome to DU, The Liberal Lion!

Evidently with this guy, he's out at the end of his term. He got primaried. But according to to Sopan Deb the NYTimes culture reporter on the show for this segment, there are calls for this hapless soon-to-leave Georgia legislator to resign immediately.

I was watching this clip and gasping, and howling with laughter!

Hey, if James O'Keefe can prowl around with a camera and troll people with impunity, why can't Sacha Baron Cohen? Turnabout is fair play. Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander. It's about time we had people on our side hitting below the belt. NO MORE "BE NICE"!

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
