You did nothing to bring on that horrible assault! And it's a damn shame that the victims are somehow made to feel like a walking taboo. I think we ALL need to hear more of these stories, because it just adds to all the evidence. It adds to the awareness. It adds to the REALITY of this horrible, horrible crime! There are no excuses for this, and NO justifications or excuses for how it's somehow still a sacred thing because it involves sperm-meets-egg leading to a mass of differentiating cells. And there is NO WAY that a rapist, or molester, is in ANY way entitled to be a parent.
Thank you for sharing your story, FourScore. Thank you for your courage. And lunatica, thank you, too. This is an awful, awful thing and beyond imagining how painful it is. And these yowling, coldhearted, smug, imperious, holier-than-thou bastards can go straight to Hell if you ask me.

It's hard to admit but that's the basis of it. They're outraged that there's a black man in the Oval Office and he isn't the janitor.
And I think some of them may have thought they could deal with it. I think some of them thought - "well, it can't be that bad, can it?" Those would be the last vestiges of the "I'm really not THAT racist. No really!" crowd. And some of them figured they could probably deal with it if they just closed their eyes and ears and pretend Obama - PRESIDENT Obama, no less - didn't exist. But then they woke up the next morning. And the morning after that. And the morning after that. And I suspect that soon it dawned on them that this WASN'T some bad dream or something they could ignore and pretend didn't exist. And it started to bother them. It started to bother them far more than they expected, because of course EVERYBODY knows it's not supposed to be that way - the president is always supposed to be a white guy, isn't he? Because whites rule, don't they? And I think it began to bother some of them so badly that they started acting out - throwing the Sore Loserman tantrums in public that soon enough became the teabagger movement. I think it just GOT to them after awhile and a few too many of them simply snapped. And the results are what we've all had to live with, live through, AND live DOWN for far too long.
I was. I found it nauseating. The only thing that made me feel better was
how many reactions there were that, like mine, recoiled from this baldly, SHAMELESS exploitative, phony-ass staging. DISGRACEFUL exploitation of our troops who actually put their lives on the line, seeing combat, volunteering to be placed in harm's way for the love of their country - when this pampered pansy-ass shirked his military duty but DARES to prance around in front of them. Didn't serve his whole tour of duty - ALL of it safely state-side, failed his pilot tests - I think a passing grade was in the 70s or 80s and he scored in the 20s. He was a passenger on that jet that landed on the aircraft carrier, which was located off the California coast near San Diego. They even turned the carrier around so that the photo op would have only open ocean behind it, making it appear as though it was on duty somewhere "war-ish." And the whole "Mission Accomplished" thing was a VERY sad irony. It really needed a "Yeah, SUUUUUUUURE" banner next to it.

Gratifying to see that I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I was actually predisposed toward being sympathetic toward her, mainly because all I knew about her was that she'd been diagnosed with MS.
But CRIMINY!!! She starts opening her mouth and reduces herself down to a smug, arrogant, imperious, and downright nasty little weasel-ette. Who raised five big healthy strapping sons NONE of whom seemed moved by patriotic duty or noblesse oblige to serve his country. Who married a guy whose weird-ass cult wouldn't even permit her own parents to be present for the ceremony. They had to wait outside til it was over. Who presumes to dictate to the rest of us "you people" types that they're not going to be releasing their tax returns - WAAAAAH!!! WAAAAAHHH!!! Because we might pick on them!!!! WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! Oh, heaven forbid we peasants find something to criticize about your ladyship and your ladyship's animatronic escort.
Man, she makes Leona Helmsley look gentle-hearted.

BTW, napkinz, THANK YOU for posting these! This is a FANTASTIC thread. Man, look how she's being parodied. OUCH! More imperious than "queen nancy reagan." And she was a real "let 'em eat cake" type. "I'd never wear a crown! It messes up your hair!!!" (Actual quote from her, very early-on in ronnie's first term. May have been the little red braided "crown-like" head piece she wore to the inauguration.) She didn't think she came off that way, but that's how it was, and that's what a LOT of people thought. That's the impression she gave to many Americans. All through those long, nauseating eight years of her damn husband's "let 'em eat cake, trickle-down, millionaires on parade" reign of horror. She was the Enabler-in-Chief.

Dammit, remember what Mad-Eye Moody warned Harry Potter: "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!" Dems lost ground for three decades by not staying awake, aware, and militant. I'm amazed at how many times I've now read some version of the phrases: "isn't this the 21st Century?" and "
name of group or voting block here) went on the premise that these arguments were settled long ago!" and "but I thought this was settled! WHY are we still fighting about this?" If I had a dollar for every time I've heard or read versions of those quips, I could be Barack Obama's koch sister.
