About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Also - because nobody wants to be SEEN following losers.

That's like a DOUBLE-Epic-Fail. Consciousness of Guilt.

Aretha was EVERYWHERE, wasn't she!

There is that, too.

Aretha's "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)"

Can't get this outta my head. Can't sit still during it, either.

Just wanted it submitted here.

I'd guess he's in the crowd that was waiting to meet her at the Pearly Gates.

WHAT A BAND there is Upstairs!

All I could think about is who she's singing with now. Elvis - they share a Departure Date now. Sinatra, Ella, Dino, Sammy, and Nat King Cole. Chuck Berry, Michael Jackson. James Brown. Whitney Houston. Pavarotti. Fats Domino. Janis Joplin. Jim Morrison. Etta James. Johnny Cash. Marvin Gaye. Roy Orbison. David Bowie. Jerry Garcia. Bo Diddley. Glenn Frey. Paul Kantner. Leslie Gore. Muddy Waters. Maurice White. Natalie Cole. Chester Bennington. Lynn Anderson. Leonard Cohen. Scott Weiland. Buddy Greco. And I know I'm forgetting some more good ones.

And the backup band! Lordy Lordy! BB King, John Lennon and George Harrison. Ray Charles. Kurt Cobain. Prince. Rick Nelson. The Gibbs. Brian Jones. Carl and Dennis Wilson. Carl Perkins. Merle Haggard. Glen Campbell. Tom Petty. Hugh Masekela. Buddy Rich. Ornette Coleman. Dave Brubeck. Jimi Hendrix. Lemmy. Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. Clarence Clemons. Walter Becker. Tommy Ramone. Tom Fogerty. Phil Everly. Leon Russell. And I know I'm forgetting some more good ones.

Dick Clark and Ed Sullivan to emcee. Co-conducted by Messers Gershwin and Bernstein. Produced by Bill Graham and George Martin.

NICE!

LOVE these stories!

Welcome to DU, Serafina2242!

Thank you for this! That song sure takes me back.

Your poignant images just add more depth and relevancy to that oldie-but-goodie.

1979 was quite a year. Jimmy Carter was still in the White House, struggling with the Iranian hostage crisis.

Note - by voice vote. Not by roll call vote.

Nobody had to stand up and say so in the open. Cowards. I guess it's kinda hard to show backbone when you don't have one in the first place.

Welcome to DU, ScratchCat!

Frankly, this is mere mealy-mouth stuff. If they REALLY wanted to assert any kind of defiance, they'd put the Kavanaugh stuff on hold til the Mueller probe is completed. It's kinda hard accepting - or even considering - a Supreme Court nominee from a completely ILLEGITIMATE "pResident."

He CHEATED TO WIN.

And what's worse, he cheated with the help of a HOSTILE FOREIGN POWER.

What's worst of all - he cheated with the help of a hostile foreign power WHOSE HELP HE AND/OR HIS CAMPAIGN ACTIVELY AND WILLLINGLY SOLICITED, AND ACCEPTED.

No kidding.

As my husband often says in moments like this: "more ME, please."

Except with The Asset it'd just be "more ME!" No "please". Just a demand. From an adult-size spoiled brat.
