Indeed. To paraphrase the line from the great Bette Davis:

“Fasten your seat belts. It’s gonna be a bumpy week.”

Kicking.

September 30, 2018

So do I.

Great graphic.

A keeper! Serves well when you face any blowback from CON-leaning friends who cling to the “both sides!!! BOTH SIIIIIIIIDES!!!!!!!!!” canard. “Both sides” are NOT equal. By ANY stretch of the imagination.

They’ll always try to twist it that way, though. But clear, simple statistics like these can serve as a by-the-numbers fact check.

I’m keeping a copy of this.

Well then, you do what trump and the CON squad are trying to do.

Appeal to public opinion and try to do perception management. You put her on TV. ALL OVER TV. ALL WEEK. C’mon Avenatti. Do it.

We DO need to hear from her - and anybody else who comes forward. AND from Mark Judge’s ex-girlfriend - the one who’s already on record saying she couldn’t sit by “and watch him lie.”

Well? What else would you call it?

Seems pretty doggone accurate as a description of the behavior I myself saw the other day when I watched him in the afternoon hearing.

What else could you possibly call it?

September 30, 2018

No kidding.

This strikes me as another one of those "that'd be funny if it weren't true" things.

Sometimes I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry. Or just bang my head.

I guess they're hellbent on living in a pre-1950s America.

That’s the only way I can figure this out in any way that makes sense, at least to me. I think people like the one you describe just want that hazy misty “memory” of an America where white men were all that mattered.

Women did not matter, at all, except as decorative arm candy in public; the steno pool at work; and at home - maids behind the vacuum cleaner in the living room and at the hot stove in the kitchen; and then willing compliant whores in the bedroom after which they then become THINGS: containers and incubators. And that’s just for the “little woman” contingent.

As for blacks, the comfort level undoubtedly would be doormen, waiters, and shoeshine men. And Latinos? Hah! Who cares? Besides, the JOBS are all there for them - in the orchards and strawberry and vegetable fields. So what do THOSE people have to complain about anyway, ‘eh?

All demographic groups except for white males are to be occasionally seen and perpetually not heard. And that’s for the male demographic in each. Women in either demographic? No need even to consider those women. They don’t even matter at all.

I’m sorry to burst their bubble. But whether they like it or not, whether they accept it or not, this is NOT 1949. That’s LONG GONE. They can yearn for it really really hard, and pretend all they want. But there is no “Wayback machine” no matter how badly you want one or how loudly or aggressively you demand it. Those proverbial “good old days” are OVER. And GONE. Like that old Army uniform from decades ago that doesn’t fit anymore.

I think THAT’S what they don’t like, most.

September 30, 2018

Sorry to hear that, csziggy.

The news itself is already so grim - and now this, on top of everything.

It’s good that you’re HERE. You’ll find oceans of empathy and sympathy here. DUers are genuinely wonderful about that. I’ve never seen them fail to help lift these heavy loads. I always like to remind about something our own Skittles once said at a time like this: “someone’s always here.” Someone’s always here to help shoulder the grief. More accurately, lots of someones. Many of us have had to draw some water from the DU well at one time or other. I certainly have. It’s been a companion and a godsend. I’m glad you’re HERE. Just know you do not mourn alone.

And in other news, that’s an excellent reminder about blocking Pox Noise. Every little thing.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
