Glad you're here. The harrumphing and ridiculously-inflated outrage over the alleged "wrong" done to "Duck Dynasty" reminds me of the uproar of the Paula Deen fans when the Food Network yanked her show.

Never let their addle-brained and wrong-headed and horribly mis-informed statements of "fact" stand. NEVER let them stand. They always have to be answered, denounced, and debunked. Who knows? Your rebuttals just might be the first time any of these folks heard the other (our) side.

This is one woman who CLEARLY has always gotten by on her looks. There's no other way to explain it. People are naturally predisposed toward favoring the pretty. Especially those many of us who process information visually. There are almost too many studies that show this - in business, in psychology, in social exchanges, earning power, prestige, marriage potential, earning potential, EVERYTHING.

I actually did like what Martin Bashir said. One had to take it in its full context -

and understand the metaphor he was using to illustrate a point. Basically a "how would she like it if..." or an invitation to she-who-utterly-fails-to-understand to imagine walking in the shoes of the actual slaves and understanding the actual mistreatment and VERY REAL suffering they endured - while so blithely, casually, and thoughtlessly flinging around the "slavery" reference. Yeah, it was a little coarse. But not if you considered it in full context. He was trying to teach her something. And, I suspect, she did not understand the lesson. Which would be both typical and not surprising.

On the other hand, I also thought it was the longest, most elaborate, and most staggeringly imaginative way I've ever heard - of someone telling somebody else they should eat shit.

And every time the bad guys start in with those stupid platitudes about "personal responsibility!" and "government baaaaaad" and crap like that, WE should be chiming in with "yeah, 'cause they're too cheap to wanna help you. They DON'T want to help you! They don't care about you OR your problems. They don't give a damn!" We could even amp it up by adding the religious thing - "Jesus said we need to take care of one another, especially 'The Least of These' but the GOP says 'screw them!'"

We need to hit 'em back, hit 'em back QUICKLY, and hit 'em back HARD!!!
