calimary's JournalAs erronis said. No, just an opportunist.
I wrote to NBC News about michael steele. And of course the first guest on his show was that smug, snarky john feehery. YUCK. ANOTHER republi-CON!!! I turned it off then and there. Didn't come back til the hour was over.
Hey, if I want to watch republi-CONS, I know I can go to Pox Noise. They are reliably like that. But I do NOT expect that of MSNBC.
Wonder how far their ratings dumped for that time slot yesterday?
michael steele isn't just an opportunist. I suspect his own party didn't want him. Can't have GOP'ing while black. And they probably regard him as a RINO. If he were considered a valuable ex-RNC chair or GOP figure at all, he'd be on Pox. Probably with his own show.
Too bad the sentence wouldn't include
forcing them to drink the water they poisoned. These assholes perpetrate this shit because they can. Because they're rarely ever held responsible. Because they aren't forced to hurt in some way. Like ALL their money taken from them and distributed to their victims. Like the wrongs they committed against others are directly and individually visited back upon THEM. Like NONE of the fines and financial penalties are deductible. Not a nickel's worth! Like NONE of the costs and troubles are escapade. They get to swallow it ALL. And wear it around for a LONG time.
Maybe there would be some deterrent. SOME deterrent that would put some future fiends off trying something like that themselves.
And it might get some rather shrewd news coverage.
Shrewd and rather pointed. And hopefully a little uncomfortable too. Make 'em wear it around their necks. Make 'em OWN it and drag it around like a ball 'n' chain. Laminate it to their faces. Yeah, GOP - indeed YOU DID build it!
Another one of those inconvenient truths.
Good info to have - the next time one of your knuckle-dragger friends starts up with
"USA! USA! We're Number ONE!" Or that crap about "American Exceptionalism." You can answer back with "yeah, we're exceptional, alright." Number ONE in poverty. Number ONE in homelessness. And the list of "superlatives" goes on.
No kidding. That was a police pile-on, too. HORRIBLE example of police brutality.
Caught on video, too. It was AWFUL. Brutal in every sense of the word. Just ridiculous. So much has NOT changed.
Me too! I called her office to tell her staffers to thank her for her backbone.
I said - "please pardon my language but please tell her I think SHE FUCKING ROCKS!!!!" She's not my Congressmember at least geographically, but philosophically she's pretty doggone close. She sure represents a lot of my thinking on issues like this. The staffer giggled and expressed agreement, and promised to send her my message.
They need to be told when they're doing something good, as well as the opposite. Reinforce good behavior! And thankfully, she'll be back in the new Congress. While Henry Waxman (my guy) has retired, he's been replaced by another D - Ted Lieu, whose head seems to be in a good place.
Sad thing is - they'd love these!
Indeed. If they refuse to come on? So what? There are other fish in the sea. LOTS of them.
Otherwise they become like SONY initially was toward the hackers - "oh, uh, okay, we'll bow to your dictates. Whatever you say! We'll be nice! Don't be mean to us!"
Unfortunately we already have a template for that. Cenk Uyger and the Young Turks got the axe because the thin-skinned control freaks in the RNC in Washington complained that his show wasn't being very nice to them and they were gonna retaliate by not being available to guest on the show. BIG FUCKING DEAL. SO THE-HELL WHAT??? Shoulda dick cheney'd them (as that war criminal hissed to Patrick Leahy on the floor of the Senate: "Go Fuck Yourself!"
The proper response to this, when these assholes throw a hissy fit, should be: "So What?" Basically - "oh, so you don't want to come on? Can dish it out but can't take it? FINE! We've got LOTS of other people available whom we can put on the air. See ya!"
A few strong doses of that and I'd bet they'd start coming around. And worse case scenario? Maybe we'd get a few more Dems and liberals and progressives on, and a little more GENUINELY fair and balanced coverage, instead. OTHER voices would get exposure, and OTHER faces would get face time, for a change. Sounds like an all-around win to me.
Agreed! Thank you, Mr. Mayor.
YOU stand tall. They just remind everybody how small and petty they are.
