Aristus
Aristus's JournalGood day in clinic today. Some of my diabetic patients are showing improvement.
No craziness today, or a crammed schedule. Everything went off without a hitch. And I did good medicine for my patients.
Dear Lord, more days like today, please!...
Hi, DU peeps!
Saturday, April 20th. A Special Weekend Edition of William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day.
"Alas, it was a piteous deed!"
Henry VI, Part III, Act I, Scene 4, Line 163.
Whew! Tiring but satisfying day in clinic.
Too tired for Happy Hour this week. I'm going to see what Will Shakespeare is up to, and we'll cook up something for this weekend.
to all my Lounge friends...
Mid-week pause that refreshes. What everybody drinking tonight?
Bodega Belgrano, a 2011 Argentine Malbec.
Niiiiice...
I was reading the "Stupid Teabagger Signs" thread in GD.
I got through about ten before giving up in despair.
Seriously, it gives me a headache trying to think down to that level.
I want to live on a smarter planet...
Man, sometimes I hate Mondays.
Clinic is a bear today.
Nothing serious; just a lot of isolated, non-specific symptoms that could be anything or nothing.
I need a vacation...
Saturday, April 13th. The Weekend Edition of William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day.
"Ne'er heard I of a warlike enterprise
More venturous or desperate than this."
Henry VI, Part I, Act II, Scene 1, Lines 44-45.
I just had to remove an embedded piercing from a patient's face.
It was a lip-piercing that had become embedded in the subdermal region of her left upper lip. I numbed her up with some Lidocaine, then made an incision in the oral mucosa, then used a clamp to push the jewellry through and out the incision.
I asked her afterward if she was going to give up piercing because of this.
"No. I love piercings!"
Okay...
Enjoying Happy Hour with Will Shakespeare. Ask us anything.
What a day. I need a drink...
Damn. One of my patients, who was recovering nicely, has relapsed.
She discontinued her mental health meds against medical advice, and started using again. She lost her job as a result, so now she's strung out again, and she's back in the life.
Damn, damn, DAMN!
We're getting her into treatment again. I know she can kick the habit; she did it once already. She just has to believe in herself.
She was so ashamed when I went into the exam room. Wouldn't even look at me. I told her that I wasn't ashamed of her, and that I knew she could get clean again.
Please God...
Oy!
I'm ready for Happy Hour...
Thank you for listening...
