About Me

I truly believe that we will all live in peace and brotherhood someday. And so that I don't lose my faith in humanity, I will live my life as if that day had already happened.

Journal Archives

I've put away most of a bottle of Pinot Noir this evening.

Don't judge me.

I'm on vacation...

Anybody remember GoLeft TV? Who was the monstrously hot blonde reporter with the glasses?

I was sad when I couldn't find their podcasts anymore...

Will Shakespeare is still in Stratford. Anyone want to drink with me?

Ask me anything about Will Shakespeare.

I kicked a foul-mouthed bastard out of the clinic today.

I've visited with him a few times. He's a not very pleasant diabetic patient who refuses to comply with his treatment plan. His hemoglobin A1c is sky-high.

He came in today for I don't know what; he obviously doesn't care about the state of his health. I had ordered a glucose and A1C level on him anyway. I was at my desk closing out the chart of my previous patient when the lab tech came to me and told me: "He won't let me get his blood. He told me to fuck off."

I got up off my chair, opened the door to the exam room and told him to get out.

"I wasn't doing anyth-"

"I don't care. Get out! You don't talk to the staff like that."

I turned around and went back into my office.

After he left, my team members gave me a round of applause, which I hadn't expected. Then I went back to my desk to document the incident and cool off. I was shaking so bad. I hate confrontations!

But you don't fuck with my staff; in any sense...

Dragged down by the news. Somebody please cheer me up...

Anyone know of any planned candlelight vigils in Washington to honor the dead in Paris?

I've Googled it, and all I'm getting are past vigils for American gun massacres, and the Charlie Hebdo attacks.

Mrs. Aristus, R-Washington, is strongly considering voting for Hillary Clinton!

Yes, my wife, the staunch Republican, will likely be voting for the Democratic candidate in 2016. That means for two election cycles in a row, she will not have voted republican for President.

She voted very reluctantly for John McCain in 2008.

She voted, readily if not happily, for Barack Obama in 2012.

If Hillary Clinton gets the nomination (and it looks more and more likely that she will) Mrs. Aristus will vote for her.

She said this evening, after watching a news breakdown of the umpteenth Benghazi hearing yesterday: "We need a woman in the White House."

Naturally, I'm so proud I could split!...

Anybody up for a Friday-night drinking thread?

Relaxing with some Burgundy and a pizza.

How's everyone doing tonight?

I was on last night, but it was Thursday, and I didn't have a lot of takers...

Another continuing medication education symposium, another hotel room. How is everyone this evening?

Sipping some red wine, and waiting for a pizza delivery. Just relaxing with some music on the iPod Home and a brand new book.

Saturday, September 26. The Weekend Edition of William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day.

"Thou hast cast away thyself, being like thyself
A madman so long, now a fool.

Timon Of Athens, Act IV, Scene 3, Lines 222-223.
