About Me

I truly believe that we will all live in peace and brotherhood someday. And so that I don't lose my faith in humanity, I will live my life as if that day had already happened.

"Let's be superheroes."

That was the phrase that finally convinced a patient on Friday to get his flu vaccine.

I've had a lot of patients lately decline the vaccine without even trying any of the internet conspiracy theorist-approved objections, like the flu vaccine gives you the flu, or it's a Big Pharma plot, or what have you.

Most simply offer the disappointingly lazy "I just don't want to..."

I offered the usual evidence-based rebuttals to whatever his objection might have been. Then got to the notion of herd immunity, and our responsibility to protect those who are unable, for whatever reasons, to get immunized.

"Let's protect them", I said. "Let's be superheroes."

He consented to immunization.

I gotta remember that phrase...

Friday Night Vodka Buzz. Ask me anything.

I love you all...

Just had a patient claiming a 'needle phobia' who had a tattoo you could see from orbit.

Had to defer lab testing for his condition, and of course, his immunizations. Who knew phobias could be selective?

"I'm afraid of heights on a telephone pole, but not on a rope ladder..." - That kind of thing...

My head is swimming with some very nice fast-acting sublingual Indica.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Friday-Night Vodka Buzz.

With a little sublingual indica to help it along...

How is everyone tonight?...

The latest battleground in anti-vaxx nuttery: the package insert.

Their newest gambit in trying to discourage patients from getting immunized against deadly diseases.

"The only way for you to know what's in the vaccine is for the doctor to show you the package insert. But they don't show it to you, do they? "DO THEY?!?"

I tell you, for people who think vaccines are an evil plot concocted by the government and the pharmaceutical companies, they place a lot of trust in the package insert printed and placed by the pharmaceutical companies and required by law to be in there by the Federal government.

The anti-vaxx fuckwits are out in force in GD. Same shit, different year...

I was on a cruise recently when I overheard a woman complaining about how bored she was.

We were on the Lido Deck, with the most spectacular landscape of Alaska's Glacier Bay clearly visible out the windows behind her.

"I'm so bored with this cruise! I'm done. I'm just done..."

I expect if someone had tossed her overboard into the frigid waters of the bay, her boredom would have vanished pretty quickly...

More and more lately, the Republic of Cascadia is starting to look pretty good.

Driving through Trump-country Eastern Washington yesterday, I saw a big 'Fuck Trump' sticker

on the rear cab window of a pickup truck.

It was a delight to see. I guess the tariffs are hitting Spokanistan and environs very hard...
