Many minimize FB’s toxic impact because “I know how to configure my privacy settings,” “Facebook is a great — or the only — way to (fill in the blank),” etc.

Facebook has a winning formula because it combines convenience with an addictive engagement mechanism for stimulating users’ emotional reward centers. I know several people for whom Facebook is “The Internet.”

Ripping Facebook from Americans’ fingers and shutting off that dopamine spigot would be a sure fire way to piss off a lot of Democratic voters. So, as many reasons as there are to forcefully dismantle FB, it ain’t happening anytime soon.

"Dark Winds," 2022 AMC Series based on Hillerman novels, to be set on Navajo Nation

Series based on Hillerman novels to be set on Navajo Nation

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Production of a six-episode television series based on crime novels by the late author Tony Hillerman is under way in New Mexico, the State Film Office announced Tuesday.

A psychological thriller set in the Four Corners region of the Southwest, Dark Winds centers on two Navajo Nation police officers trying to solve a double murder in the Four Corners region.

Shooting will take place on the Navajo Nation, in Santa Fe, and in other locations through November 2021. Plans are for the series to premiere some time next year. Chris Eyre, director of the movie Smoke Signals, is directing the pilot.
