Freddie Stubbs's JournalSo, we basically have a losing candidate taking a victory lap
Secretary Clinton has won the popular vote, has a solid majority of pledged delegates, and the support of a large majority of superdelegates. She has won in every every measurable metric. But unfortunately Senator Sanders is refusing to acknowledge that he has lost, stubbornly continuing like a WWII Japanese soldier hiding in the jungle refusing to believe that their Emperor would surrender to the inferior Americans.
Sanders' insistence on making demands even after being rejected by Democratic voters is the height of arrogance.
Hillary is already leading Trump by a wide margin even without the endorsement of Sanders. Sanders is risking overplaying his hand. If Hillary calls his bluff and wins without him she will be more emboldened to tack toward the center, knowing that she can do without the support of fringe politicians like Sanders.
Murder Rate Spike Could Be 'Ferguson Effect,' DOJ Study Says
Source: NPR
The horrific attack in an Orlando gay nightclub has captured the nation's attention, but the great majority of homicides are not due to mass shootings.
And in the last year or so the murder rate has jumped in America's big cities.
"We are in the midst of a very abrupt, precipitous and large crime increase," says Richard Rosenfeld, a respected criminologist at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He is the author if a study released Wednesday by the Justice Department examining reasons for the increase.
Specifically, murder is spiking in urban areas. Rosenfeld says last year in the country's 56 biggest cities, homicides jumped 17 percent.

Judge dismisses charge against Planned Parenthood videomaker
Source: The Hill
A Texas judge has dismissed one of the charges against anti-abortion filmmaker David Daleiden, whose undercover videos targeting Planned Parenthood shook up the organization last year.
The judge dismissed a misdemeanor charge against Daleidan related to his trying to purchase fetal tissue during the course of making the videos.
Daleiden is still facing a felony charge of tampering with government documents, including using a fake ID, a charge that is being handled by a different judge.
The Harris County District Attorneys office said that it will not fight the dismissal of the misdemeanor, and will focus on prosecuting the felony charge, according to KHOU in Houston.

Venezuela's Maduro rooting for 'revolutionary friend' Sanders in U.S. campaign
Venezuela's embattled president, Nicolas Maduro, said on Tuesday night he supported Bernie Sanders in the U.S. presidential race, adding that the candidate, who describes himself as a democratic socialist, would win if the vote were "free."
Maduro, a socialist who sees himself as the political heir to his predecessor, Hugo Chavez, has long railed against the United States, blaming it for Venezuela's economic crisis and accusing Washington of attempting to topple him.
"Bernie Sanders, our revolutionary friend, ought to win in the United States," Maduro said during an hours-long televised broadcast.
"If the elections were free ... Bernie Sanders would be president of the United States," he said, criticizing the U.S. Electoral College system as unrepresentative of popular sentiment.
