About Me

I am retired, now a professor emeritus at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where I taught in the English department for 37 years. I've written 4 chapbooks and 5 full-sized books (all listed as poetry though many include other genres as well), including _Sheer Indefinite: Selected Poems, 1991-2012 (Univ. of New Orleans Press, 2012). I've also written a 500+ page bibliography of three contemporary poets: Robert Creeley, Ed Dorn, and Robert Duncan. I am writing now, both fiction and poetry, more now than ever. My first vote for President of the United States was for Dick Gregory in 1968 (Bowling Green, Ohio). Favorite quote: "It's easy to be an idealist if you don't have to mind the evidence, but no one said it was supposed to be easy" (Richard LaPauvre).

Glenn Beck is working up a case of the wet-works, Please come CAPTION the ninny!!!

Glenn ("Sometimes I'll punch myself in the nuts during commercial" ) Beck is saying: "I've learned to cry without pissing myself. . . . But it took a lot of pretty messy practice."

"Take that, logic." Please come CAPTION Head Wreck!!!

Glenn ("If there was a pill for me it would be fecal blue" ) Beck is saying: "If the traditional definition of marriage is cast aside, you cannot logically tell me you can't change another variable: one man, three women. One woman, four men. Two men, three women, and a bakery shop. Two goats, one daffodil and two bad-mitten rackets. A ton of scrap iron, an open wound, three door-mice, and a vat of unprocessed cheese. . . . You get the picture. . . . Who is silly enough to make this stuff up!? . . . Geez."

The evil of thought. . . . Please come CAPTION Michele Bachmann!!

Michele ("You never know when you'll need a tissue" ) Bachmann is saying: "Some people think believing in climate change is harmless, but I've always seen it as the height of madness if not a sign of out-right evil. . . . Don't they realize what climate change means? . . . Oceans rising . . .Lands boiling . . . Extinction of thousands of species . . . And so on, and so on . . . Heck, they're even proud of it, constantly bringing it up and everything. . . . These people are sick."

Now that sodomy is the law of the land, please come CAPTION Antonin Scalia!!

Antonin ("I'm getting a set of wooden teeth made" ) Scalia is saying: "Just how is it legal to deny me the right to discriminate? Where in the Constitution does it say I am not free to deny others freedom??? Who gives anyone the right to keep me from taking their rights???. . . Doesn't anyone know the law around here???"

DOMA was your friend. Please come CAPTION Bill (the whining bully) O'Reilly!!!

Billy ("Shut up. Just shut up!" ) O'Reilly is saying: "But now, the liberals on the Court are not only telling us what constitutes marriage despite the electorate's desires, circumventing democracy itself, but they have opened he flood gates to legalizing polygamy, bestiality, necrophilia, cloning orgies, the genetic splicing of god-only-know-what-with-what, nano-sex bots, and everything else you can't even imagine yet! . . . It's not a victory for gay rights' advocates, it's the end of the United States as we know it and a disaster for the planet! . . . And that's the memo. . . . Now onto Obama's obsession with brothers and thugs in his administration."

Where has she been all my life? Please come CAPTION Orly Taitz!!

Orly ("There's one side to every story" ) Taitz is saying: "Listen, Chris, use some common sense logic, alright? . . . If I was 'nuts,' as you put it, I wouldn't know whether I was nuts or not, right? But if I was merely obsessed, then I only might know if I was nuts, but I also might not. Yet if I was nuts and obsessed, on the other hand, then I couldn't know if I was sane or only obsessed. But since, I do know I'm neither obsessed or insane, then I couldn't be either one. It only follows. . . . See?"

Words are a waste of letters. Come CAPTION Mitch ('Ditch the Car. Wipe the gun.') McConnell!!

Mitch, ol' gasoline-on-any-fire, McConnell is saying: "I'll tell you precisely why I call these liberal groups are 'un-American.' . . . In the American legal system, a wife cannot be compelled to testify against her husband, or vice versa. . . . But groups like Media Matters , which believe me stands for many of them, consistently use conservatives' very words to attack them!!! . . . That's even worse! . . . Well, maybe that's 'Taliban justice,' or 'terrorist justice,' or 'Sharia Law' or whatever, . . . but it's definitely un-American!"

Let's ask an expert. . . . Please come CAPTION Ben Stein!!!!

Ben ("I'm okay by me" ) Stein is saying: "Listen, the very notion of climate change is undergoing revision. That's what 'change' means for craps' sake! . . . Yesterday it was bad, today it's good. . . Yesterday it was a ravenous beast, today it's a cat licking your feet. . . . Yesterday it was in the dictionary, today it's loose and running free. . . . People who say they believe in climate change but who won't change their mind about it are just flapping their gums!"

Please come CAPTION, Mitch (the fog machine)McConnell!!!

Mitch (between a nurf-rock and a soft spot) McConnell is saying: "And these so-called fact checkers and truth mongers, like the bullies and liars at Media Matters, do the nation incalculable harm by taking the very words of conservatives (who are only trying to save this desperate nation!) to attack them. . . . These creatures have in my mind not only abdicated the right to any and all moral authority but also to continue an existence free of legal consequences. . . . Using our own words against us. . . . Now, that's low."

The abyss speaking to the abyss. Please come CAPTION Sarah Palin!!!

Sarah, exploring-the-surface-for-nearly-four-decades, Palin is saying: "Well, it's pretty danged obvious what's wrong with this country: not enough people are thinking about me!!! . . . And then, golly, there's the national debt . . . "
