Atticus
Atticus's JournalTo any "regular" Republican voicing concern about a Trump conviction irrevocably splitting their
party, with Trump taking all his loyalists into his new "third party": think about it----do you really WANT those anti-American racists in YOUR party?
Are the Q-anon crazies and the Proud Boy applauders REALLY who you want in your tent?
Are you ok with telling Republicans like Pence or McCain or Raffensberger or Cheney to get the hell out of the GOP?
Lord knows, we don't agree on a whole lot politically, but while we differ on what is best for the nation, we do agree that this is OUR nation and we do want what is best for it.
Keep those Trump cultists and there will be no unity that is anything more than cosmetic. Disavow them and intentionally separate from them and we can talk; we can compromise; we can govern together.
Yes, you will be members of a smaller party numerically. But, you will have shown yourselves to be much larger than those who choose to worship at the Trump altar.
And, won't you feel "cleaner"?
Think about it, ok?
Lindsey Graham's deep concern that convicting Trump will "divide the nation" is just about
as sincere as would be Stormy's blushing concern about "showing too much cleavage".
Did not the foul "Turdblossom" say something like "50% plus one vote is a mandate"? How about
50% plus about 3.5 million?
If the shoe was on the other foot-------
----and Democrats had done all that the Republicans have done:
---"our" seditionists---the equivalents of Cruz and Hawley and Jordan, etc.---would be expelled from Congress, as would anyone packing a pistol in the Capitol
---our president would now be in custody for numerous crimes and anyone in the Senate even suggesting his acquittal would be slammed in the media a d physically threatened by "patriots" in camo.
---the "nuclear option" would have been used yesterday
---our pleas for bipartisanship, compromise and unity would be met with rolling eyes and laughter.
---"elections have consequences" would precede "the voters gave us a clear mandate to do as we please".
---Dobbs', Hannity's and Carlson's nominations to the Cabinet would be approved by now.
---Newsmax would once again be longing for a nation "where liberals can be hunted down with dogs".
Things would be handled very differently, to be sure.
And, on the sixth day of the first month, the Most High Maga waddled forth from his columned temple
and, after mounting a high place, spake thusly to the rude multitude: "Thou hast been screwn! Thou hast not mansions nor servants nor fine raiment as do those Under the Dome and those who bow down to them! Therefore, go thither to the place called 'The Hill' and pull down their Dome, rend their fine robes asunder and sully the very idea that they cherish which is called DEMOCRACY! And be mindful: Pence is a defiler of all that is MAGA!"
And the multitude screamed a great scream---"HANG PENCE! HANG PENCE!" and marched off to do as the Most High MAGA had bidden them.
And then, on the morrow, when all in the land said they had sinned a great sin, the multitude cried that they had acted on behalf of the "MHM" and sought his blessing and protection. But, when asked to vouch for those whose wrongs he had implored them to commit, the Most High MAGA gazed down upon them and inquired "Who art these rabble, these desecrators of our sacred Dome? I know them not!"
And, as they were led away to await trial and punishment, they recalled with great sorrow what the "MHM" first spake unto them: "Thou hast been screwn!"
For four nauseating years, I avoided placing the word "President" in front of "Trump".
I may have slipped once or twice---I don't think so---but, unless it was required in a quote, I refused to honor him with that title.
I referred to him as the White House squatter, the Oval Office occupant and a few more "colorful" names, but I just could not even think of calling him---you know---without cringing.
But, NOW, thank all that is good and holy, we again have a PRESIDENT!
"President Biden". "President Joseph R. Biden". "Joseph Robinette Biden, President of the United States of America!"
Damn!
Let us help you, Mr. Doocy: RACISM is divisive. Admitting that it exists and pointing it out
is NOT divisive; it is the first necessary step in countering racism.
We strongly suspect that you actually understand the difference, so---why are you talking shit?
