There are 788 BILLIONAIRES in the US. Cumulatively, their wealth amounts to

3.4 TRILLION DOLLARS.

If there was the political will and spine to impose one-time wealth tax of 5% on these super-wealthy Americans who NEED US little people in order to survive and thrive over the long term, that would provide 170 BILLION DOLLARS TO help pay for the covid relief we so desperately need.

I am far from being a billionaire, but they could have my 5% if it would help the Kochs and Adelsons swallow that pill.

I know many of us are exhausted, but there is MUCH to be done.

I have no illusions that extreme right anti-democracy insurrectionists---like Cruz, Hawley, Jordan and others---can be "worked with". They must be neutralized by either expulsion or, at the least, stripping them from committee assignments and shunning them. But, know this: we dare not allow these traitors go unpunished and be re-elected by their "stacked" and voter-suppressed constituencies.

We southern-Illinoisans contributed to both Georgia Senate Democrats and we are proud to know that we helped elect them. But, the 2022 campaign starts today. Our party must encourage qualified citizens to oppose the above referenced extremists and WE need to work our butts off to elect them.

We may not be in love with some of them. We may not agree with all of their views. But we must elect decent people to replace the greedy power-crazed racists that the GOP has nurtured and turned loose upon us.

Finally! People in the White House that we'd enjoy having over for a barbecue! Joe, Jill, Kamala,

Doug,---my smoked pork ribs ("pigsicles" ) will melt in your mouth, my smoked potatoes au gratin will make your taste buds rejoice and Mrs. A's wild blackberry cobbler will make you say "My, my my!" after each bite. We could top that cobbler with home-made ice cream if you like.

Just sayin'----if you ever find yourself in southern Illinois----------

For me, this inauguration was such a shocking contrast in its decency, honesty, sincerity and

unabashed humility that it literally took my breath away several times. I cannot count how many times my vision was clouded by tears---of relief and gratitude.

I don't know if there is a definition of "class act", but this inauguration event---including last evening---is certainly not just an example of one, but the "gold standard" against which all future events will be judged.

Let's all try to "earn this".

The primary problem with all those MAGA caps?

They were EMPTY.

If the signature on an Executive Order is less than 4" in height and written with

something other than a Sharpie, is it still valid?

Just as Trump's enablers were at least as responsible as Trump himself for the last

four disgusting and disastrous years, the newsers who breathlessly reported and endlessly repeated his vulgar and insane tweets and covered all his rallies share equal blame for the pain they brought to millions of us and the hate they kindled in others.

He is gone.

He is universally viewed with disgust.

He is a shameful stain on our national reputation.

Enough.

Until he is in cuffs and wearing an orange jump suit I don't want to see him. I NEVER want to hear from him.

Anderson Cooper just said Trump "incited an ERECTION on Capitol Hill" and then quickly

corrected himself "er---INSURRECTION".
