Don't most states have laws against conduct amounting to "intimidation" or "menacing"?

It seems to me that displaying firearms outside the residence of public officials recently threatened with violence, banging on their doors and windows at night, etc. Is conduct intended to cause fear. In many states, using a firearm or even pretending to wield a deadly weapon can make such conduct a felony.

Have any of the Proud Boys or "militias" or other thugs been arrested and charged for this armed bullying?

If not, why not?

I hope we soon have a federal Domestic Terrorism statute. Once we do, what are the

pros and cons of naming specific groups---i.e., Proud Boys, KKK, etc.--- as "domestic terrorist organizations"?

What would be the purpose of so doing?

What would be the legal consequences, if any, of a group being designated as a DTO?

Would this even pass Constitutional muster?

As bad as this pandemic has been over the past year, understand this:

I guess I grew up in a very weird neighborhood and went to a very weird elementary school.

Somewhere along the line, I picked up the warped notion that, while I was not to look for a fight, I was never to run from one either. By observed examples and personal experience, I was taught a couple of truths: first, there will always be people willing to hurt you once and, second, if you don't punish them for it, they will hurt you again.

Even if you got your butt kicked in a playground fistfight at recess, the other guy would be less likely to try you again if he went back to classes with a bloody nose or a busted lip. If you let a bully punch you without striking back, you could count on other would-be tough guys to pick on you as a "safe" target---someone they could slap around to bolster their "rep" as a badass without risking a knuckle sandwich. You would be marked as a "patsy"; a "chicken".

We have just been viciously attacked by a gang of thugs. We survived, but not because of any lack of intent on their part.

And, apparently because the wise people in my party are more sophisticated and more appreciative of political realities than I, we are about to "look forward"---again.

To the misguided folks who continue to label themselves "Republicans":

A crowd of white supremacist anti-American nut-jobs assembled in Washington, DC today to chant "Death to the GOP!" They are enraged with people like you because you still don't realize that the Republican party is "so yesterday!"

You still think the Republican Party you joined still exists.

You still think democracy is worth preserving.

You still think votes matter and that we should have government "of the people, by the people and for the people".

You have failed to worship at the altar of Trump and are, therefore, a RINO deep state socialist traitor in the opinion of the new Trump Party.
