More than once it has occurred to me that we are watching a modern "Braveheart" in Ukraine.

I hope some find this appropriate:

"Fight and you may die. Run, and you’ll live… at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin’ to trade all the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take… our freedom!"

-William Wallace---to HIS "citizen soldiers".

Let's hope this version ends better for President Zelensky.

To the people who were told at CPAC last night that "socialism, cancel culture and 'wokeness' " are

what threaten our nation and are now willing to repeat that message:

Define one of those.

Your choice.

Explain what one of those buzzwords actually means.

Ah-ah-ah! No internet. Just 'splain one of these "dangers" to us with your own "wisdom".

( crickets------------- )

Uh-huh, that's what I thought.

If any occasionally forget why they chose to be a Democrat or question whether their support

of our party is important, they might consider this:

Democrats belong to the party of Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, Raskin, Warnock, Hirono, Schiff, Duckworth and Jayapal. We recently lost one of our champions, John Lewis.

Republicans cast their lot with Trump, McConnell, McCarthy, Cruz. Hawley, Gaetz, Greene, Boebert, Paul and Blackburn. They recently lost one of their champions, Rush Limbaugh.

We listen to Rachel Maddow's opinions.

They unquestioningly believe that anything Alex Jones screams at them is gospel.

Is there really any doubt who's on the right side of history?

Really, Trumpies?

Putin's unprovoked attack on peaceful Ukraine using bombs, rockets, artillery, tanks and 190,000 troops is no big deal BUT---Trudeau's eventual arrest of the spoiled brat white supremacist terrorists in trucks in Canada was totalitarian extremism that we should oppose?

Thus spake the flabby bag o' pus you worship and beg to please "Make America Gag Again" in 2024.

YOU make me gag NOW!

As spring nears and Trump rallies erupt like poison toad stools on America's lawn, I am

reminded of how I once heard Trump supporters described: "loud vulgar tattooed shirtless drunks-----and their husbands."

I understand that Putin, at 5' 7", is extremely sensitive about his short stature. SO-O-O---

could some hackers invade Moscow's TV and radio broadcasts to play Randy Newman's "Short People" on a continuous loop at full volume?

How 'bout that, "Anonymous"?

What we're seeing in the Ukraine leaders right now? Daddy called it "grit".

Decades before John Wayne made his movie, Dad said he hoped I would grow up to be a man with "grit".

"What's that?" little Atticus inquired.

He explained, "Some people, when things get really really bad---life knocks them flat and everyone thinks they're finished---can pull themselves up, clench their teeth, look the world in the eye and say 'Is that all you've got?'

That is 'grit'."

Zelensky has grit. His people have grit.

I hope we do.

A while back I said that maybe the least-often asked question was "And then what?"

Now I am saying that maybe we should be asking that now as we allow a maniac to have his way with Ukraine.

None of us wants to go to war, none of us wants to put our soldiers in harm's way and we all shudder at the thought of nuclear weapons being used by anyone. So, we just stand back and watch as thousands of out-gunned outnumbered brave Ukrainians are put through Putin's meat grinder.

And then what?

If Vlad's threat to slaughter innocents and his threat to use nuclear weapons is enough to keep the West on the sidelines, have we not given Phtin the key to Europe? Africa? South America?

I confess I don't have the answer to that question, but I'd like to know it is being asked. I don't think it is a "no-brainer" as some seem to.

Republicans praising Putin and supporting his invasion of Ukraine had best remember:

"There's a man goin' 'round takin' names"----and it ain't Lead Belly!
