When it comes to pointing fingers, you can't beat the former guy

He slips and slides and dodges and tells whatever lie
Might serve his need of the moment and allow him to slide by.

He cares not that we despise him; he has no sense of shame
He only cares about winning and the gilding of his name
And making sure when things go south there's someone else to blame.

But, it's time to pay the piper and no more will he play
The tune the former guy required to keep the world at bay.
He'll soon be wearing orange and eating off a tray!

His party lies in shambles; all that's left is threats and bluster
And policies and platforms are now more than they can muster
One vulgar word describes his term: (hint---it starts with "cluster!)

I understand that anyone who gets paid for writing about the governor in Florida is now

REQUIRED to notify the state.

So, if someone pays me five bucks to spray paint "DeSantis is a fascist asshole!" on an overpass, do I give notice of my artistic effort?

Further, are the authors of political bumperstickers that mention DeSantis subject to this directive from Herr DeSantis?

Does anyone else sometimes "rec" an OP with which they don't agree? I do.

Some posts are thoughtful and well-written even though they are, in my opinion, wrong.

Some I rec because they raise questions that---once again, in my opinion---need to be discussed.

Don't misunderstand: you won't see me rec anything that I think is anti-Democrat, but those don't last long anyway. There are just issues about which reasonable and well-intentioned Democrats and progressives can disagree and I can't help but respect a post that makes me rethink something I thought I "knew".

And, that's what I think about that.

Do you have a friend or family member who needs to read this-------?

I've always considered you a reasonable person, but knowing that you have bought into the hateful MAGA view of things has made me wonder. In the hope that you are somehow just not aware of what it is that you are supporting and encouraging by supporting Donald Trump, I am supplying you with some FACTS that you can check out and verify on your own internet device.

You are supporting a man who has already told you over 30,000 lies. Why would you believe anything he tells you?

You are supporting racism---misogyny---religious bigotry---homophobia---just about any form of stereotypical hatred you can imagine. I never considered you to be a mean hateful person.

You are supporting the continued coddling of the mega-corporations and super-rich who pay less in taxes than you do.

You are supporting the Trump party that has openly announced a plan to end Social Security and Medicaid within five years---or less.

You are supporting a person who knew he had verifiably lost reelection, yet raised millions of dollars from folks like you with his bogus ""Stop the Steal" grift.

You are supporting a person who most of this nation considers a TRAITOR who instigated the shameful insurrectionists who invaded and defiled the US Capitol on 1-6-21.

Finally, you are supporting someone whose dishonesty, vulgarity, greed and cruelty defy everything you were taught was good and true and decent.

Is this REALLY the "new you" or are you still the person your parents hoped you'd be?

A modest proposal for journalists and politicians: talk about poverty. And, when I say "poverty",

I'm not talking about those who have to tell the kids "No Disneyworld this year". I'm talking about the people who have to tell their kids "Sorry---we have no food today" or "Just for a little while, we'll sleep in the car". And, of course, not all poor people have families. Too many are alone---eating out of and sleeping behind dumpsters.

64% of Americans, according to CNBC, live paycheck to paycheck. That makes them extremely vulnerable to employers who require unpaid overtime, exposure to dangerous or unhealthy working conditions or outright theft from their paychecks. They hear "If you don't like it, leave. I have a long list of applicants who can start tomorrow!" And, mostly, they stay, because losing that next paycheck means no rent money, no grocery money, no asthma emergency inhaler, no insulin---and no dignity left.

There are hungry people in this land of plenty RIGHT NOW---as you read this.

Some are beside themselves with the stress of wondering how they'll feed their kids; how they'll get their elderly parent's meds; if they'll get ticketed for driving uninsured; if--- they should just quit trying.

John Edwards had one thing right: there are "two Americas".

Why aren't we hearing about the "other one"?

Better yet, why aren't we doing something for those who live there?

No one "knows", but this is what I think after listening to snips of Trump's CPAC speech.

When he speaks of being his followers' "justice"---their "retribution"---he is dog-whistling to his most deranged disciples to hurt people, kill people, burn their houses and terrorize their children because all this will be justified and necessary to "re-annoint" him as their "Lord and Savior".

And, can anyone doubt that one of his twisted fascist cultists actually called for the EXTERMINATION of trans folks?

This may frighten some.

It pisses me off---royally!

There have always been plenty of disgusting Republicans and even a few disgusting folks with

"D"'s after their name. But, today's crop of Republicans contains many for whom "disgusting" hardly suffices. "Nauseating" comes close, but still doesn't quite convey the emotions some of them trigger.

Kari Lake, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Greene, Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan and Andy Biggs are just a few of the noxious screamers and whiners whose very names, when I speak them, make me feel like using a strong mouthwash several times.

Is "vomitotious" a word?

Question: if a 15 year old named "Pat" transfers into a Florida school system claiming to be a

"she", but a parent thinks they're "too muscular for a girl", who takes them into which restroom and checks out their pee-pee?

Just askin'.

McCarthy and crew are proposing to have decisions about what should be taught in school

classrooms made by the same people who decided the covid pandemic was a hoax, covid vaccine was a dangerous substance, horse worm paste and hydroxychloroquine were safe cures, Mexico would pay for a never-built border wall and Trump is a genius who won the 2020 election by a landslide.

What could go wrong?
