Consensus seems to be that the "President's" "Defense" team will do all they can to

shift the focus to Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

We should repeat this to anyone who seeks to "discuss" their presentation: "The Bidens have been 'totally exonerated' of any illegality in Ukraine. You know what they have to do with this impeachment? DIDDLY SQUAT! That's not opinion; that's FACT!"

CBS News is reporting that the Trump team has threatened GOP senators that if they vote against

Trump, "their head will be on a pike".

Putting aside for the moment that this threat is a crime, how can the House Managers use this tomorrow? In a normal trial where jurors had been threatened, there would at the least be an inquiry by the presiding judge as to whether individual jurors were aware of the threat; had anyone directly communicated with them; did they feel intimidated, etc.

Could Schiff and company request such an inquiry as tomorrow's first order of business?

Could news reports of the threat be made a part of the record?

DAMN THIS DESPICABLE SONOFABITCH!

Some---even some on this board this evening---have complained that the Democratic House Managers

were "boring".

If your heart is so calloused and your soul is so dead that you did not get a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye---maybe feel those hairs on the back of your neck rise--- as Adam Schiff gave that closing---------------------you have my sympathy.

To anyone who votes Republican: That "tight" feeling around your throat?

It's called your "anal sphincter".

We are approaching a "tipping point" I am not talking about the environment and the "tip"

could go either way.

We will either "turn the corner"---get rid of Trump and his cult of enablers--and begin the long climb back into the sunlight of true democracy at home and respect abroad OR---we will start an accelerating slide into a dark fascist plutocracy.

How will it go?

We'll know within the year.

Addendum: to paraphrase something I once read: "If I am ever on trial for the "crime" of opposing Donald Trump, I don't want the case to be dismissed for lack of evidence!"

Dear Sanders supporters: while Bernie is not my first choice in the primary, I will absolutely

100% support, work for and vote for him if he is our nominee. To do otherwise would be an act of insanity. But, while I sincerely admire and respect your zeal in support of the candidate you believe is "the one", I have a problem with SOME of the Sanders supporters.

Other good genuine Democrats prefer other candidates. And, if one of their champions wins the nomination, I am not at all confident that SOME of your fellow Bernie boosters will support them. Worse, I fear some will take actions that will damage our candidate and help Trump get re-elected.

This is not about 2016. It is about Turner and Sirota and several others who have been given positions of authority in the Sanders campaign. Some are proud of having voted for Jill Stein. Others are regularly praised by White Wingers and Trump himself. I am not comfortable with such people and I wonder if it does not give you pause to see such folks placed at the top of the campaign you've chosen to support.

I have been very reasonable and respectful up to this point in this post, but I cannot end it without being very blunt: ANY supporter of ANY candidate and ANY candidate or political operative who cannot unequivocally state, in public, that they will support the Democratic nominee, WHOEVER that may be, should not let the door hit them in the ass.

We will be better off without you.

When Rep. Jeffries referred to Ukraine as a "fragile democracy", my first thought was

That's us now. The United States of America is a "fragile democracy".

January 23, 2020

This is from the Illinois State Bar Association, but most jurisdictions have similar provisions:

"If the court determines that a party has failed to produce evidence and has no reasonable excuse for failing to do so, the court may determine it was not produced because the evidence would be unfavorable to that party’s position. In the court’s discretion, the failure of a party to produce evidence may lead to the giving of a jury instruction about the presumption."

So, IN LAW, the withholding of documents and evidence within a party's control creates a presumption that the documents or evidence withheld is adverse to that party's interest in the litigation.

What Trump has done/is doing to hide documents and gag witnesses would lose his case for him in most any regular Court. Hopefully, it will have the same effect in the "Court of public Opinion".

This will be an incomplete list. Trump has called Mexicans rapists and murderers; he's made up

demeaning and childish nicknames for multiple Democrats and his primary opponents; he's termed African nations shithole countries; he's denied that John McCain was a war hero; he's boasted about his entitlement to "grab 'em by the pussy"; and, he has publicly solicited foreign help in getting re-elected.

And, NOW Republicans are "offended" by Jerry Nadler saying out loud what everyone with an IQ above room temperature knows to be true?

Give. Me. A. Break!
