Could he possibly be any more of an asshole?

My grandfather served in the 101st Infantry, Yankee Division, Massachusetts National Guard. He, along with his unit, was one of the first American soldiers in the trenches of France during the "War to end all wars." I have his Purple Heart. I don't know if he was part of that famous battle, but have no doubt that he left friends behind in one of those graveyards dotting the French landscape.

The Orange Shitgibbon chose to disrespect their sacrifice and the hallowed ground in which they lie because of a little rain???

My grandfather's service, and my dad's and uncle's during the war against fascism, inspired me to serve during the war against rice paddies. (I didn't see it as such at the time. What can I say? I was young.)

This "man" is a disgusting excuse for a human being, never mind a Statesman!!

Great ad for MA Question 3

A new ad in support of Question 3 stars a foul-mouthed “Masshole” with a lot to say about protecting transgender rights. And not everyone is pleased.
At the start of the video, which popped up on YouTube Thursday, a surly Bostonian in a red hoodie seated at a bar takes a gulp of beer, slams his pint down, and begins a speech about the city’s ethos of freedom.

Only one appropriate role

Given his lies, evasions and tantrum while testifying under oath, It is clear to me that there is only one appropriate role in any courtroom for Brett Kavanaugh, as a defendant.

Further thought on Kavanaugh hearing.

He said, "I like beer", present tense. So that tells me that he still likes beer. He's not sober. He's not on the wagon. He's not in AA. He still drinks. Maybe not as much as when he was young, but he still drinks.

I didn't report

I was sexually assaulted twice in my life. The first time occurred when I was about 16, in 1967. The closest I came to reporting it was after my scoutmaster molested me on a camping trip. At some point later, in a conversation with my sisters. His name came up, and I said, "He's a fag." My sisters were shocked that I would say such a thing. So, I told them the story, never dreaming that it would go any further. That was not the case. One, or both, I don't know, told my father. He asked me about it, so I told him the truth. This was decades before the Spotlight Series exposed the scandal surrounding the Catholic Church, but Dad did what needed to be done. He confronted the scoutmaster, told him that he ever worked with Boy Scouts again, Dad would have him prosecuted.
The second time was in 1972. It was late at night. I was asleep in my bunk aboard the USS Mahan, somewhere in the Pacific. I was having a dream when I felt someone fondling my genitals. At first, half asleep, I thought that I was in port with my then girlfriend. I realized this was not the case when he climbed into my bunk, spread my legs and tried to penetrate me. I fought him off eventually, but I was shaken by the experience. For the rest of my time aboard that ship, I had an open knife next to me in my bunk. I did not plan to kill my assailant, only to leave a mark which would be difficult for him to explain. He never bothered me again, and a few months later I was finished with the US Navy. I never knew the identity of my assailant, and in the atmosphere of the Navy at the time, I knew better than to say anything.
I stand with #MeToo. I understand them in a way most men cannot.

NYT Op-ed, good read

The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.

(snip)

Senator John McCain put it best in his farewell letter. All Americans should heed his words and break free of the tribalism trap, with the high aim of uniting through our shared values and love of this great nation.
We may no longer have Senator McCain. But we will always have his example — a lodestar for restoring honor to public life and our national dialogue. Mr. Trump may fear such honorable men, but we should revere them.
There is a quiet resistance within the administration of people choosing to put country first. But the real difference will be made by everyday citizens rising above politics, reaching across the aisle and resolving to shed the labels in favor of a single one: Americans.

The writer is a senior official in the Trump administration.

Just Wondering

How did the Republican Party come to be known as the GOP? The acronym stands for Grand Old Party. But the Democratic Party is far older than the Republican Party The Democratic Party dates from the time of Thomas Jefferson, while the Republican Party only dates from the time of Abraham Lincoln.

math problem

Do this math problem; amazingly, it will reveal your all-time favorite movie.
This one really works! It will take you only about ten seconds and, amazingly, it will reveal your all-time favorite movie.
DO NOT cheat. DO YOUR math, THEN compare the results on the list of movies at the bottom. You will be AMAZED at how scary true and accurate this test is:
1. Pick a number from 1-9.
2. Multiply that number by 3.
3. Add 3.
4. Multiply by 3 again.
5. Your total will be a two digit number. Add the first and second digits together to find your favorite movie (of all time) in the list of 17 movies below:
Movie List:
1. Gone With the Wind
2. E.T.
3. Blazing Saddles
4. Star Wars
5. Forrest Gump

I'm a climate change voter. Are you?

I believe human-caused climate change is real and presents a direct and deepening threat to life on Earth as we know it. I believe the air, the food and the water are all in grave peril. I can’t believe saying that remains controversial, because the evidence of it is literally on fire in front of us. The images are broadcast into our homes each night by the nightly news shows, whose anchors are at long last uttering the words, now that it might be too late.
Moses had the burning bush to show him the way; we have, among other things, the Mendocino Complex fire — the largest conflagration in California’s recorded history. Fires in Europe are 43 percent above the norm, and Greece along with much of the Mediterranean region is projected to transform into a desert within decades.
Japan and Korea are suffering unprecedented heat waves. Laos, Algeria, Greenland, Oman… there are bad records being set virtually everywhere on the map. Smoke from wildfires in Siberia made it all the way to my front porch in New Hampshire, and Sweden recently called for help because there are more massive wildfires burning out of control to the north of the Arctic Circle.
