Oscar Nominated Actor/Director Paul Mazursky dies at 84

(CNN) -- Paul Mazursky, a five-time Oscar nominee who directed and wrote such films as "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice," "An Unmarried Woman" and "Down and Out in Beverly Hills," has died, his agent said Tuesday. He was 84. The cause of death was not revealed, but Mazursky had been in ill health for some time. Mazursky was known for his compassionate touch as a writer and director, guiding such performers as Dyan Cannon (1969's "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice"  , Art Carney (1974's "Harry and Tonto" and Jill Clayburgh (1978's "An Unmarried Woman" to Academy Award nominations for acting.
Carney, in fact, won a best actor Oscar for his performance as a widower who travels cross-country with his cat, Tonto. Indeed, Mazursky was fond of such low-key, human stories, though usually with a dose of humor. "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" was about wife-swapping; "An Unmarried Woman" was about a wealthy New Yorker whose husband leaves her, putting her in the dating pool for the first time in years.

AUBURN | Several weddings were held in central New York Saturday. But only one had Vice President Joe Biden on the guest list. Biden traveled to Auburn to attend a wedding for his niece, Marren Hunter. Hunter married Gregory Felter in a ceremony Saturday afternoon at St. Mary's Church. Hunter is employed as an accountant at Currier Plastics in Auburn and Felter works as internal auditor at SRC, a Syracuse-area research and development firm, according to their respective LinkedIn pages. The bride is the daughter of Michael Hunter, the brother of Biden's first wife, the former Neilia Hunter. Neilia Hunter Biden was a native of Auburn. The Bidens were married for six years until Neilia Hunter Biden and the couple's 1-year-old daughter were killed in a car accident in 1972. Since his first wife's death, Biden continues to have close ties to the Hunter family and central New York. Designing Women star Meshach Taylor Dies at 67

Meshach Taylor, who played the lovable assistant Anthony Bouvier, who worked at the Sugarbaker interior design firm in the CBS hit sitcom Designing Women, has died, his agent Dede Binder confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 67. Taylor, who immediately segued to another CBS comedy, Dave's World, when Designing Women was canceled, died Saturday night at his family's home in Altadena, where he was receiving hospice care. Earlier, his family posted a note on his Facebook page, saying, "It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend, has begun his grand transition." </snip>  |

Rockefeller son dies after his plane crashes
Source: USA Today PURCHASE, N.Y — A son of the oldest living member of the Rockefeller family died Friday after the small plane he was piloting crashed into a neighborhood near Westchester County Airport. Richard Rockefeller, 64, of Falmouth, Maine, ate dinner the night before with his father, David Rockefeller, to celebrate the scion's 99th birthday, said family spokesman Fraser Seitel, who confirmed the death. "It's a terrible tragedy," Seitel said. "The family is in shock. Richard was a wonderful and cherished member of the family. He was an experienced pilot. He was a medical doctor, and it's horribly sad." The plane, a Piper Meridian single-engine turbo prop registered to Richard Rockefeller, left the White Plains, N.Y., airport about 8 a.m. ET and was reported down within 10 minutes in a residential area less than 3 miles away in Purchase, about 30 miles north of New York, airport operations administrator Peter Scherrer said. Dr Milton Wolf on CNN just now (TP candidate running against Pat Roberts)
Absolute loon. First, he's a 2nd cousin to Obama, and feels he the "Worst President in History". Okay, coming from a TPer, it makes sense he'd say something stupid like that (apparently, he's no Dr of History).

OVERLAND PARK — U.S. Senate candidate Milton Wolf posted a collection of gruesome X-ray images of gunshot fatalities and medical injuries to his Facebook page and participated in online commentary layered with macabre jokes and descriptions of carnage. Wolf, a Johnson County radiologist anchoring a campaign for the Republican nomination with calls for federal heath care reform, said in an interview the medical images were legally uploaded to public social media sites and other online venues for educational purposes. They also served, he said, to demonstrate evil lurking in the world. However, Wolf and others viewing these Facebook postings relentlessly poked fun at the dead or wounded. The gunshot victim, Wolf joked online, wasn't going to complain about the awkward positioning of his head for an X-ray. In a separate Facebook comment, Wolf wrote that an X-ray of a man decapitated by gunfire resembled a wounded alien in a “Terminator” film and that the image offered evidence people “find beauty in different things.” </snip> Like I said... an absolute loon...
