I wonder how many people are coming to this hard right wing meeting

We're running this ad in the January 13 classified section:

(At the top of the ad is a picture of Ronald Reagan, their hero.)

Conservatives unite! Are you a conservative? If you're frustrated with liberalism taking over in America and the Republican Party drifting away from its conservative roots, let's do something about it! Come to RallyRight.org's special meeting at (name and address of restaurant) Monday, January 6th, 6pm."

Why no EPA inspections at Freedom Industries? They didn't need any!

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/16321999-west-virginia-chemical-spill-company-was-exempt-from-epa-inspections

Thanks to our friends in the GOP, the only chemical plants that need federal EPA inspections are ones that manufacture chemicals. Companies that store and blend chemicals, like this one and the fertilizer factory in Texas, don't require inspections.

So you're thinking, "what about OSHA inspections?" OSHA is so small they have become almost purely reactive. Unless you do something really bad - like killing someone in through unsafe workplace conditions - and someone drops a dime on you, you probably will never see an OSHA inspector. The chemical spill was only detected because this product has a distinctive odor, and the townspeople reported smelling it...which means the leak had been going on for quite some time because that plant's quite a ways from population and the odor it creates is not strong.

One has to wonder, though, why someone was allowed to buy an abandoned oil refinery that was built in the late 1930s and convert it to a chemical facility without having the tanks inspected.

If you were going to declare a band's fans a gang would it be ICP's?

Apparently Juggalos and Juggalettes, fans of Insane Clown Posse (it's a rap band with...well, interesting songs, but the one about Shrub isn't on YouTube for some reason) are now a hybrid gang. Not sure what a hybrid gang is; do they slam Priuses or something?

So I'm thinking...there are bands hundreds of times worse than ICP, who've been around so long their original fans could have grandkids. (Now there's a scary thought: "Grandpa and Grandma are taking me to an ICP concert!&quot If you were going to declare a band's fans a gang, which band?

I'm going with those gangbangers One Direction. They just look like they stir up shit just on general principles.

Where is Kennesaw Mountain Landis when you need him?

I know he died in 1944, but still...they suspended A-rod for one season after the shit he did? Come on. Send a message to the impressionable youth of today: Put the commissioner of baseball on television and have him say something like...

Regardless of the verdict of juries, no player who uses steroids, no player who undertakes or promises to hide his steroid use, no player who leads others into steroid use, no player who sits in confidence with a bunch of crooked doctors, where the ways and means of hiding steroid use and does not promptly tell his club about it, will ever play professional baseball.

Here's the MSDS for the "freedom" that's killing Charleston, WV right now

http://www.cpchem.com/msds/100000014163_SDS_US_EN.PDF

The "signal word" is Danger (there are three, Danger, Warning and Caution. Danger is the most severe.)

Hazard statements:
H225: Highly flammable liquid and vapor
H303: May be harmful if swallowed
H304: May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways
H315: Causes skin irritation
H320: Causes eye irritation
H336: May cause drowsiness or dizziness
H361: Suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child (the exact words in the MSDS, don't blame me)
H411: Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects

And they dumped five thousand gallons of it into a stream.

What's the difference between the Hindenburg and Chris Christie?

It only took 34 seconds for the Hindenburg to go down in flames.

January 9, 2014

Call me when Christie gets frog-marched

If right-wing criminal-level malfeasance invariably led to right-wingers going to jail, there'd be so many Republicans doing federal time there wouldn't be room to lock up the pot smokers.

Christie needs to go to prison; whether he will is another question.

Who would start a SYNTHETIC marijuana ring?

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/01/02/us-usa-florida-breakingbad-idUSBREA010X720140102

I can understand starting a ganja ring, or a meth ring, or a heroin ring...but why risk prison making something anyone can buy over the Internet?

If they don't repeal Obamacare by July of this year, they'll never repeal Obamacare

Which goes without saying because the guy who signed Obamacare into law will still be president in July, but set that aside for a second.

In August, millions of American families - around 17 million - will participate in the American ritual called Sending Their Child Off To College. And for a very long time, part of this ritual involved paying out the nose for a healthcare policy for their student. By allowing parents to keep their kids on their healthcare policies until they turn 26, this part gets to go away.

Put twenty or thirty Koch-paid talking heads screaming about how Obamacare Will Destroy America against seventeen million people whose college costs just went down by the $2500 per year one of these Student Policies cost and see what you get.
