Masks and gowns being made from MLB jersey fabric

https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-fanatics-provide-masks-in-coronavirus-fight?partnerId=zh-20200327-156906-47943&query_id=1026&bt_ee=603UhZedR3J%2BhcO%2BXHJidjbIVBhwJwm3VZgfN6OhFvHN99UfYWafN5YncPUxLXHy&bt_ts=1585308948159

Fanatics, of Easton, PA, manufactures MLB on-field wear. On Tuesday, they stopped making baseball uniforms and are now making masks and gowns for hospitals...out of Genuine Uniform Fabric.

According to the article, the first three states to receive these items are PA, NY and NJ, and the fabric being used is from the Yankees and Phillies stockpile.

Fanatics and MLB are assuming all costs.

(And in case you were wondering...VF Corporation, who used to own Majestic (who used to supply uniforms to MLB) sold it to Fanatics. When Under Armour got the contract, they hired Fanatics (who owns the old Majestic factory) to make the uniforms. When Under Armour lost the contract because they can’t afford to do it and it went to Nike, Nike is having the undergarment made in its own factory and they hired Fanatics to make the jerseys.)

Next product shortage: Blue masking tape

As retailers and banks institute Social Distancing rules, there’s going to be a run on this stuff to use to put lines on the floor for people to stand behind.

Hawaiian 14-day quarantine period starts March 26, lasts until May 20

https://governor.hawaii.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/2003152-ATG_Second-Supplementary-Proclamation-for-COVID-19-signed.pdf

Unless you are an emergency relief worker or doing "critical infrastructure" functions, you have to self-quarantine for 2 weeks after entering the island. If you live in Hawaii, your quarantine location is your residence; if you are a visitor, quarantine at your hotel. Only leave for medical reasons - you can't even leave to buy food. Violation of this is a misdemeanor with a $5000 fine.

Two months of this should be plenty to solve the problem.

The Bad Big Mac

So it seems that Our Great President ate a bag of botulism-tainted Big Macs and, as one will do when he does that, he wound up in a mahogany box at the front of the National Cathedral.

Paula White, Trump’s official spiritual advisor, was giving the benediction.

“Let us now praise this man, the greatest of all Americans. He was kind. He was thoughtful. He was generous. He was unerringly faithful to his beautiful wife. He was...”

At this point, Melania turned to her son. “Barron, please be a dear. Go up there, look in the casket, and see if you can figure out who the hell that is.”

Massachusetts woman facing charges in China of spreading coronavirus

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/massachusetts-woman-faces-criminal-charges-of-spreading-coronavirus/ar-BB11qpmN?ocid=spartanntp

Li Mou, 37, a resident of Mass, was unable to receive testing for Coronavirus in the Boston area, so she came up with an alternate solution: self-administered fever-suppressing medications, then flew first to Los Angeles and from there to Beijing. Flight attendants on the plane asked her about her symptoms, which she denied. She entered China, received a coronavirus test, and was positive.

She is currently in a Beijing hospital receiving treatment. She is also being investigated for Obstructing the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, a Chinese crime which is punishable by prison time. This seems to have two tiers: the lower one, which she's being investigated for because she went immediately for testing upon reaching Beijing, carries a three-year sentence. If she had not done that, she could be charged with the upper tier, which carries a seven-year maximum sentence.

If you had to, COULD you work from home?

That’s one of the guidelines: work from home if you can. But could you?

I couldn’t because my equipment is too big, but I’ve got the next best thing: I’m the only person working in my shop. I get jobs over the corporate network (the people who drop them in there CAN work from home), print them and take them downstairs to the shipping desk.

Nordstrom closing all its stores for 2 weeks

I just got this email:

On behalf of everyone at Nordstrom, our hearts go out to all those impacted by COVID-19—this includes not only those diagnosed with the virus, but also their friends and family, those whose jobs and schools have been impacted and so many more. Our focus is, as always, on the health and safety of our employees, customers and communities.

The situation is changing rapidly, and to do our part in slowing the spread of the virus, we have decided to temporarily close all our stores. The two-week closure will go into effect on Tuesday, March 17. This decision includes all our U.S. and Canada stores. We remain open and ready to serve you through our apps and online at Nordstrom.com, Nordstromrack.com, HauteLook.com and TrunkClub.com—including digital styling, online order pickup and curbside services at our full-line stores, as we are allowed by local regulations.

We realize the impact a closure can have on our store employees, and this is not a decision we made lightly. We want to take care of them as best we can and will be providing them with pay and benefits during this two-week period as well as providing additional resources to help them through this challenging time.

There is no question this is a time of great uncertainty. While we don't know exactly what the future may hold, we feel confident that by sticking together and supporting each other, we'll emerge from this stronger than before.

Thank you for your loyalty,

Erik & Pete Nordstrom

NASCAR postpones all racing until May 3

https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2020/03/16/nascar-schedule-update-statement-race-coronavirus/

They say they're still going to run all 36 races this season.

I got a note from Ticketmaster regarding event cancellations

I had a ticket to the Mariners' home opener...which, as we know, will not be played for a few more weeks.

If you are in this situation, here's how it works:

If your event was postponed, they will issue you a ticket to the new date at no extra charge.

If it was cancelled, you will receive a refund within the next 14 to 21 days.
