trof's JournalNew Rule. "Breaking News":
New Rule:
It's only "BREAKING NEWS!" for one hour after it is initially reported by an entity that is considered to be 'mainstream, generally accepted as more or less reliable, media'.
We can later debate what so-called "news" outlets qualify.
If it makes the morning lede, it is no longer "BREAKING NEWS!" by afternoon.
I hope this clears up some confusion.
Thank you.

OK, here's airline "non-rev" pax rules:
I'm a pilot. I flew for TWA for 30+ years.
Rules have surely changed some since then, but here's what we had in the 60s, 70, 80s.
Male pax wore coats and ties to ride in 1st class.
In coach a sport coat and no tie was acceptable.
Female wore dresses or skirts and blouses/sweaters (or skirt suits).
You have to understand that this was back in the day when
1. EVERYONE 'dressed up' to ride in an airplane. It was a major event.
2. EVERYONE 'dressed up' to go out at night. To dinner, a movie, a PTA meeting, whatever.
3. I wore a THREE PIECE SUIT to attend a college football game with a date.
In Alabama.
Eventually airline non-rev dress codes were relaxed.
Airlines wanted us to be incognito.
They did not want us sitting in 1st class next to some guy who had paid a thousand bucks for his ticket and us bragging we were flying for free.
We kept mum about who we worked for, but when we were the only ones in 1st class wearing a tie, it was a dead giveaway.
We dumped the coat and tie, and women could wear pants suits or slacks.
TWA still had a rule against jeans in 1st.
My daughter was wearing a denim skirt.
A (young new) cabin attendant told her she would have to deboard.
I was able to more or less 'pull rank' and 'reason' with her.
To make any judgement about the tights/leggings I'd really have to see photos.
I will say that United has always had very conservative approach to how they hire and their general operation.
We always thought United pilots were mostly tight-assed jerks.
But we were sorta party guys.

The head of Israels leading Republican group called comedian and actress Sarah Silverman a self-hating Jew who needs a muzzle in a Facebook post Saturday. The post, which was written by the Republicans Overseas Israel co-chairman Marc Zell, according to The Jewish Telegraphic Agency, linked to a blog post about a more-than-decade-old clip of Silvermans stand-up show Jesus is Magic.
Republicans Overseas Israel exists in order to not only represent the Republican Party here in Israel but also to represent the Jewish community in Israel to the Republican Party and the millions of Americans who support the Republican Party and our president, he told JTA Sunday.
I think its appropriate to say something about a public figure as widely known as this woman, who during the campaign also had some precious views to express about our candidate and our president. People like her need to be called down when they step over the line.
Commenters on the post called Silverman a trash box and pig, before Zell responded: Better not to even pass her stuff around. Im hitting delete. The post no longer appeared on the groups Facebook page Tuesday.

Here's what we're having tonight.
I'm gonna try to duplicate as much as possible.

Turns out tRump and Lincoln agree.
tRump:Deliver the goods
"You can't con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you don't deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on."
Lincoln:
"You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time."
Please call your senators about senate confirmations. Please.
I did for the first time in my 76 years of life yesterday.
PLEAD with them NOT to confirm ANY tRump nominees until we have a complete, thorough, and independent investigation of the tRump - Putin - Russia - U.S. election involvement.
If his 'election' turns out to be as illegitimate as I think it is, then all of his appointments would be illegitimate and null and void.
You really need to do this, whether you're in a red or blue state.
I'm solid red.
Alabama.
Shelby and Strange.
Do it.
Won't cost you a dime.
I'm watching the last 30 minutes of "Casablanca".
It's a movie I never get tired of seeing.
An older couple in Nick's bar just drank a toast to AMERICA!
They had escaped some country that was now dominated by Nazis.
Now they were in neutral Portugal with passage to the United States.
Tonight I can't drink that toast.
I'm 76.
I've lived through WW II, the Korean "War" (Police Action)...Look THAT UP...
Viet Nam (vet), the Kennedy assassination, Watergate and Nixon's resignation, Gerald Ford's pardon of the asshole, Bill Clinton's impeachment, the 2000 sElection debacle, the first black POTUS.
I've seen a lot.
BUT NEVER ANYTHING LIKE THE SHIT THAT'S GOING ON NOW.
The repugs have gone into full PARTY UBER ALLES mode.
The country...the nation...and our well being no longer means a thing to them.
It's just all keeping in power.
