Crime takes a huge bite out of McGruff...
Benjamin Fearnow
Galveston, Texas (CBS HOUSTON) Former McGruff the Crime Dog actor, John R. Morales, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison following his guilty plea three years after police seized 1,000 marijuana plants, 27 weapons including a grenade launcher, and 9,000 rounds of ammunition from his home.
The man who played the famous Take a bite out of crime dog was arrested in 2011 after Galveston police and drug-sniffing dogs pulled over the McGruff actor for speeding, the Houston Chronicle reports. Authorities found diagrams of two indoor pot-growing operations sitting on the front seat, and multiple pot seeds stored in the trunk of his Infinity.
Police raided Morales home and found the multitude of marijuana plants, ammunition and weapons, which included a grenade launcher, according to court documents obtained by News Fix Now.
On Monday, the now 41-year-old former actor pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Morales insisted that he was nonviolent, but U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore stated that, Everything I read about you makes you seem like a scary person.

Florida Man Uses Stand Your Ground Defense in Killing of Black Teen Over Loud Music
by Joshua Holland
The killing of another unarmed black teen by a white man claiming self defense under Floridas shoot-first law aka Stand Your Ground has made national news. The incident occurred at a gas station in late 2012, when 45-year-old Michael Dunne allegedly ended an altercation over loud music coming from a car with a group of teens by firing multiple shots into the vehicle. Seventeen year-old Jordan Davis died in his friends arms. (Ta-Nehisi Coates interviewed Davis mother for The Atlantic.)
According to police, Dunne then got into his car with his girlfriend and went to eat a pizza. Dunne later claimed that he feared for his life, and only fired when one of the teens brandished a gun and started to exit the vehicle. Police found no weapons, and witnesses said Dunne was the only person to get out of his car. While awaiting trial for the killing, Michael Dunne wrote a series of shockingly racist letters about the case.

Michael Dunn Trial - Day 1 - Part 1 - Opening Statements:

Just thinking: If jobs paid better so that fewer people needed to work more than one job...
Wouldn't that mean that there would be more job openings available and unemployment would drop? Plus if you have more people out there with more disposable income, wouldn't that mean that the economy would pick up all the way around?
And isn't giving fewer and fewer people way more money than they could ever spend, in the name of helping the economy, ultimately a self-defeating exercise... Simply because there's no way that they could spend on goods and services at the same level as everyone else?
Isn't it that plainly obvious what needs to be done?
Hey, I'm no economist, but I'm wondering why I haven't yet heard it framed in that way. Who knows? Maybe I'm thinking about this all wrong. But, is the danger of run away inflation that real a deal to prevent paying working people better wages and benefits, or is it something else that's the problem?
Am I wrong?
They'd be better off if they'd pahk the cah in the gahragh.
Or better yet, pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd.
